Hopkins performance was downright disgraceful. In the first 6 rounds combined he threw what, 2 punches? He just stood there and blocked and strutted around.
It was mystifying. Did he go in there to lose, or did the fight just go out of him when Kov dropped him with that right hand when hop was trying to come in on him in the 1st?

That's hardly surprising really and I fully expected him to go all-out tonight if Kovalev dominates.

HBO really needs new commentators, they all are biased and sucks.
But max kellerman is the worst, can't stand that guy.

Of course they are biased, THEY WORK for HBO and will try to pump up the company's fighters.

This is how the real world works.

Don't watch the broadcast then or turn the volume down. Fact is there wasn't anything to praise hopkins for last night. Nor has there ever been at any point in his career. The guy is the dirtiest fighter ever, all his fights are boring as crap...you guys whine about maidana in the first floyd fight for fouling but then call hopkins a great becuz of it. Yes most of you are the same people.

That is actually a good point.....Bernard makes Lamps job harder being he's a color commentator.......how does he do his job when a guy is not throwing punches and Lamp basically has to wait until round eight to do his job......

can you imagine having to come up with phrases for 8 rounds to describe a MF running like a lil *****...

Lampley is awesome. He's a big part of why HBO wipes the floor with SHO's "wrestling level" commentation. He's not afraid to let you know the boring dirty "won't lose to no white boy" bully is getting demolished and severely outboxed. And he's smart enough to make interesting conversation in a mostly unbiased way with a pleasant sounding and well metered voice.

This sums it up pretty well. Hopkins has upset many people over the years, and Lou Di Bella is a well liked man at HBO. The things Hopkins said about Di Bella's brother a few years ago went well below scum bag standard.

Lampley's job is to provide unbiased commentary on what's taking place in the ring, not to take sides on the humanitarian aspects of the combatants.

Yeah, I really want the guy that beats his wife at home to start leading the moral crusades on commentary and taking clear sides in the telecast.

And of course Hopkins' output was anemic, he's almost fifty FFS! And was willing to get into the ring with a guy no one else in the division wants to be near. On top of that, he fought a relatively clean fight and didn't resort to tactics so many here expected him to. He deserved way more praise last night than he received.

You're making excuses for Hopkins when even he isn't bothering. Hopkins was fit enough to fight, he got beat up and accepted it afterwards. So should you.
