Did you mean your'e ,and schooled ,you ******? I had just got in from shooting rabbits from my 4x4, hence the late night. Just two sentences and you couldnt write them without making two mistakes . Illiterate, bigoted, and ultimately rather SAD. But fun to humiliate, because he is such a pompous *****!:rofl
He would have been too big for Jeffries to take a chance with, sometimes McCoy weighed up to 170lbs!!! :rofl:rofl:rofl A man weighing 156lbs may fight Nicolai Valuev , that will not make him a heavyweight . Let it go, you are never going to grasp the concept.
I think this is a very interesting match up as Burns was very strong in his own right, fast, crafty and a sharp and hard hitter ... he might outclass the Sailor ... a very interesting match up .
Shooting Rabbits with you 4x4? Wow, that must take a lot of intellegence and guts. NOT. You must take out your fursterations of your pathetic & sad life on inncoent animals.
I have land adjoining friends ground ,they have horses, rabbits need to be controlled. NB There are only three e's in intelligence Fursterations?? Innocoent?? Mendoza speak? Is it to late for you to enroll in 5th grade?
Seven years apart in age, similar in stature. It's possible they could have been matched on Burn's rise and Sharkey's decline. How would they have fared prime for prime? We don't have a lot on film of Tom. From newspaper accounts, he sounds like a seek and destroy brawler who relied on quickness and power. Burns seems more a counterpuncher, more calculated, though very potent with this right and a good finisher. Anyone want to flesh this out a bit and make a pick?
Burns. Sharkey makes a fight of it. But he seems a wide puncher, and Burns looks sharper on film. Perhaps Burns smashes Sharkey as Ruhlin did? I admit that Sharkey was a bit past his best by then.
Hadn't seen this thread before. Hmmmnnnn...very interesting. I think Tom overrated a tad, and likewise Tommy underrated a tad. The Hart fight might gives s our best clue, Sharkey probably has the edge on Hart in speed and probably more power but Burns handled him easy. And Sharkey could be hurt, witness Choynski, Maher, Fitz, Ruhlin though all bigger hitters than Burns. What the hell, Tommy on points, he was tougher and rougher than the better boxers, Corbett and McCoy.
I do not kow Ye Olde Tyme Boxing that well, but how is that comparable, since Jeffries had been retired for 6 years & lost at least ~ 100 lbs. to become a good looking empty shell of his old self vs. Johnson?
I also dont understand why it is agreed that Tommy gave Johnson a better fight than Jeffries (not that either gave johnson a great run for his money). I have seen Johnson admit that Jeffries landed plenty of good hard shots against Johnson. I have never seen him even admit that Burns hurt him in the slightest. Surely McVey isnt relying on Mendoza's reports of Burns breaking Johnson's ribs to make this statement:admin
And by the way, as interesting as this thread is, What is the significance of Kid McCoys weight being less than that of a heavyweight? Burns himself was technically only a light heavyweight when at his best wasnt he?
McCoy was a tricky boxer with good mobility and good power for his size capable of beating larger top level big men in his day. He would rate as Burns 1st or 2nd best win depending on how you view Marvin Hart. Sharkey has good wins over Choynski, Ruhlin, Goddard, and McCoy + he got the better of Corbett. Burns resume is not as good.
