Aquamarine in a generous mood, good for you.

The latest generation Eastern European fighters are an exciting new bunch and will make the sport more interesting to watch (especially in the light heavyweight division) over the next 5 years.

Domination isn't happening though, until we see some good guys from 130-154, where EE fighters are pretty weak right now. These Chudinovs and Baysangurovs and Shafikov types don't cut it.

Are they becoming more competitive? For sure. Domination is a major exaggeration at this point. I'm all for diversity in boxing so I welcome it. I want to see more Asian fighters too.

How can we deny that but pay attention...Zewski only have the name. He is as quebecer as they come when you hear him speak. This guy is smart, nice personality and can't wait to see him in the ring with somebody with a pulse.

a more apt description would substittue "former Soviet Union" for "Eastern European".

listen Tyson Fury is gonna crash this party. Tyson Fury is biggest toughest nicca in Europe not these Russian robots. Fury has the talent of Lennox Lewis and Wlad Klitschko, Emmanul Steward said that. Richard Dwyer compares Tyson Fury to Riddick Bowe.

There is a very interesting brand of fighters coming out of reunion of Easter European fighters with renown USA trainers. It's a new brand of fighters a bit like the Mexican-American fighters that combine the toughness of the Mexicans with the boxing and footwork of the USA school.

For sure Mexican and American trainers and sparring partners expand the experience and skills of former soviet union fighters but the fundamtentals come from the amateur school. It's an additional layer that works well so far. Without those trainers and fights no way those skillful amateurs would achieve the level they have achieved so far. At the same time without those fundamentals it would be also impossible.

its got less to do with race and more to do with poverty. Wherever there is poverty, people will fight to earn a living.

look at the history of boxing, most boxers have come from very poor and/or criminal backgrounds.

in the early 1900s, it was the Irish, then the Jews, the Italians, the African Americans, now we've got eastern Europeans, in the future dont be surprised to se more Asian, African and arab fighters

I was in the gym 5 years ago before many of these guys were names or pro's.

The gym was full of international types. While speaking to a trainer he said there are a few really talented USA prospects in the AM's, but they lack the toughness of their Eastern European stable mates.

    Five years later, he's right.

Well if you guys claims that boxers wants to be NFL-players, then what about european and south american Football / Soccer players?

It is an BS excuse and the mass of talents among americans isn't just what it used to be and USSR if I'm not mistaken has always been a boxing powerhouse and now the great amateurs turns pro and that is the result of it. Outside of Ward, there is really no big american fighter from middleweight to heavyweight.
