Your being a bit harsh on Maidana. Maidana actually became decent with feints. He put down Broner with a lovely feinted shot and he caught Floyd out a few times with crude shots set up with feints. Garcia worked on feints with Maidana because he knew to catch Floyd you need to be clever with feints, he probably seen this by watching the Floyd-Cotto fight and noticed both Mosely and Marquez got Floyd setting shots up with feints. It's being able to do it often that's the problem vs Floyd. It would take a fighter with the outstanding feint variety of a Roberto Duran to consistently tag Floyd with shots set up by feint. Hearns was a brilliant feint merchant as well. He would have killed Floyd with the first disguised punch.
What does Pacquiao and "paydays" have to do with my post?, are you another troll or just another mentally disturbed keyboard rebel?
What did you expect his gameplan to be? Hold on and plead with the ref? He could accuse Kovalev of biting his glove? Hopkins had an excellent game plan. He intended on taking a puncher deep into the late rounds and then finish him late. If the fight went 15 rounds, perhaps the out come would have been different. Unfortunately, it was a 12 round fight, and unlike caveman Maidana, high level amateur experience Kovalev, was able to rely on his skills along with his 1 punch KO power.
No. Floyd and Bhop mental game is very strong. But Hopkins losing to JT twice hurts his case. IMO, if he had put his foot on the gas a lot sooner in both fights he would have won. He was content with doing just enough. And that is never a smart idea in a close fight. Floyd is smarter IMO.
"Smart" in the sense used on this forum usually means avoiding any fight where you might lose, in that sense Mayweather is certainly "smarter". Personally I think that just taking the Kovalev fight showed more balls than anything Mayweather has done in his entire career. It might not have been the smart thing to do but at least he has guaranteed the respect of fight fans.
Did Bernard make as much money as Floyd? Was Bernard undefeated at this age? Bernard is one of the smartest boxers who ever lived inside of the ring. He's slightly smarter than average outside of the ring but he's not a genius. He is just very disciplined and fully dedicated to boxing which makes him seem like a genius compared to everyone else.
No contest Bernard is intelligent & business savvy . He's got a life after boxing aqll planned out Floyd is dumb as a box o rocks. He'll be on skid row 5 yrs after his last fight. He has nothing else to fall back on
ROFLMAO :rofl:rofl You are an IDIOT!!!! Floyd wouldn't get within 100 yards of a fighter like Kovalev. Shoot look how he hogtied Maidana in the rematch. Had his homies as commission & officials, made maidana wear pillows on his fists, hired Kenny Bayless to stop Maidana even attacking him. If he'd got Sergey with both hands tied together & both feet tied & he made Sergey wear a blindfold too that cowardly woman beater would STILL!! find an excuse not to get in ring with him Floyd is a coward not a fighter
bernard hopkins, a smarter boxer than floyd? **** off *******!! manny, ran away twice from record paydays right!!
