Yeah, puzzling... He hasn't fought with passion since 2009. Still can't believe that the faded Dawson managed to be the first man to dominate Hopkins and then to see what has followed that... Crazy.
Does'nt seem so crazy when you consider he's been inconsistent throughout his whole career. Fought unspirited and looked less than stellar in his first fight with Glen Johnson, then with better preperation beat Johnson rather handily. Even against 2nd and 3rd tier opposition Dawson at times looked disinterested, so it was no suprise to me what has happened to him to date. Reminds me alot of JC Chavez Jr., they're heart and mind are not into the sport that requires absolute dicipline and dedication.
I agree, but how Hopkins didn't manage to figure him out, intimidate him, etc. (everything Hopkins does great are all the things Dawson doesn't bring to the table) is what I find puzzling. The Chavez Jr. comparison is more than a little flattering for Chavez, but once again I agree on the point.
Dawson is quick and fast, plus he has better than average boxing skill. Certainly enough skill to beat an old past great. If you re-look at the Dawson fights with Hopkins, he pretty much did what Hopkins said Kovalev did against him. He was'nt overly aggressive and backed out to re-set when ever Hopkins was in better position than he was.
Agree, he's never been the same after that It's a RJJ case right here dude ****ed up badly with his weight and as a result he's a shadow of himself now i blame that vulture Ward, for forcing Dawson to drain himself to zombie like state, dude got even KOed in sparring during camp, that's how weakened he was. Ofc, Ward's victory over him is meaningless
It wasn't Ward's fault. It was Dawson's fault to come down to fight Ward at 168. It was Dawson's terrible mistake.
