Whom is more of a "gimme" for the other stylistically between prime Bowe & Tyson?

Given their physical attributes, styles, and habits in the peaks of their primes - which of these contemporaries was built to specification to be easy work for the other man? :think

Opinion seems to be split on this, with the Bowe camp insisting even a Rooney aided Tyson would leave him (at his best and motivated, of course) salivating... while the opposing contingent remains steadfast in thinking it would be as classic a giant slaying as you could ask for.

Very few seem to see it as being especially competitive, or with difficulties posed mutually in anything like equal order.

Bowe got hit too much. That is not good against Tyson

This. And the fact that Bowe never clinched when hurt, only fought back. Another bad thing against Tyson.

Bowe simply liked to trade too much to beat Tyson. It would be a GREAT fight while it lasted, but Tyson would eventually get Bowe in big trouble, and put together a series of combos to get him out.

Tyson was never a good inside fighter, and that is where Bowe would make the fight take place.

Bowe would suck it up and take a tremendous pounding and lose a wide UD

I tend to think Bowe would've gone down as "some guy who Tyson knocked out" if he came along in the late 80s.

Awesome fight. The winner represents their set and gains sole ownership to drug smuggling at The Bridge. Bowe's infighting would be nullified, since, basically, Tyson wouldn't fight there too often. So Tyson gains the edge with his superior chin and defense.

Bowe's resume is weak he was carefully managed prime Tyson would eat him up.

Long range is where Bowe needs to be here, and if you look at him fight, he's really not very good at range. Surprising for a guy with those physical attributes, but it's true. His jab was often underused, his right hand was looping and left him open up the middle.......a bit of a mess at long range. He had a good uppercut and could bruise you pretty badly inside, but he wouldn't survive the quick, shocking punches Tyson would deliver. He barely survived against the smaller, slower, more methodical inside game Holyfield brought. Bowe is really pretty overrated as a historical heavyweight.

    Tyson easily.

So far no proponents of the "Bowe was a superior version of Tokyo Douglas" theorem...

Don't think one could make that argument. Douglas' jab was a laser that night and he moved better than the flat-footed Bowe was ever able to.

This might be somewhat controversial, but I think on that one special night, that motivated Buster could beat any motivated and in shape prime Riddick.

...while the Holyfield of the Bowe trilogy beats Tokyo Douglas and Tyson.

    Styles make fights.
