Let's look at it this way: The Hopkins/Mayweather thread teaches us that it's about the risks you take and not which ones you succeed in. Therefore, Ortiz is basically coming off of wins over Collazo, Lopez, Mayweather Junior, Andre Berto and Lamont Peterson, all in his last five fights. So, who deserves it more than that, really?

Showtime regret giving Duckweather this deal HBO knew this would happen............

Robert guerrero does 850 000 buys

    maidana 1 does 800 000 buys

    maidana 2 does 700 000 buys

They have only had success with one fight which was the canelo bout and they are still using the money they have taken from that fight to cover the future expenses.

The key thing was Showtime were under the impression duckweather would at the very least make 1 mill buys for every single bout this clearly has not been the case staff are getting sacked people are getting annoyed.

Showtime voiced their concerns to lenord Ellerbe stating that they need Mayweather to have a big fight with a big name which is Manny Pacquaio lenord was making power moves behind Duckweathers back trying to get the pac fight done mayweather has since been fired Ellerbe...............

showtime have anther problem canelo vs cotto on may date things are not looking rosey indeed.

HBO must be getting super fvcked. Pac doing half those numbers? What about all the other boxers that came to Showtime with Mayweather? The revenue from those cards must not go to Showtime? You have to look at the over all investment dicktard not just his fights. Aren't you an accountant?

Show us proof of this, I assume you work for showtime and have actual proof with how big you talk. The only place i hear of the investment being bad is coming from you. You know showtime has the power to end this deal when they want, they haven't for a reason ******* pakkuman, constable, progay, farmboxer, duck master.

You shot your own argument down.

4 fights at 1 mil is 4 million. He's done 4 fights for a total 4.6 million. So techinically, by YOUR logic, he's still in the green. AHEAD of expectations. :deal

You really are thick showtime have to pay 30 mill guarantee to Duckweather win or fail plus pay other expenses and if they do not draw even you think they do not lose money come on this is basic stuff

The cable/satellite provider (i.e. Comcast, Direct TV etc) gets a 50% cut from every PPV buy. They are the gateway into your home. The Showtimes and HBO's of the world need them to deliver the fight into your home.

Let's say the averag price paid was $60 it's my understanding that the HD broadcast was $70 and standard definition cheaper so the average was maybe $60 per buy just for arguments sake.

    $60 X 1.2 million buys = $72 million. 50% of that goes to cable/satellite, that leaves $36 million. Floyd's guarantee is $32 million.

That leaves $4 million. How much did it cost to promote, to film the all access shows etc.

This is why 1.1 - 1.2 million buys is the break even point.

they made money of the canelo fight but since they were making loses after that they had to use the money they took in from the canelo bout to pay of the costs.

    Think man this is basic
