if you've actually been in the ring or around the sport, you know that a prolonged beating is more damaging than a quick kayo...to the body and psychologically

He took Mayweathers clean shots round after round...no matter how hard a guy hits, clean shots hurt

He did look good against Malignaggi who is a very good boxer but has no concussive punch....Lazcano is a decent puncher but not a big puncher. His heart and grit kept him up at the moments he was hurt

You have to be really illogical to think Pacquaio ruined him when he was already depressed, on drugs, and took a beating from Mayweather

it was a combination of things that ended hattons career and Floyd was the main culprit. being ko'd after a 10 round beating is a terrible way to go.

if Floyd ko'd early it might not had been that bad. A prolonged beating especially ending in a ko is the worst thing that can happen to any fighter. his drinking got out of hand after that match and he started with the white powder. he was never close to the same after the Floyd match.

his drinking abd drugging to cope with his his depression from taking that FIRST LOSS and the beating he took is all she could write for hatton

lmao, that is a legit question. there are a few on here with so many alts we lost count that hang off floyds nuts day in day out, all friggin day. HOW and WHY is Floyd the topic of conversation EVERY single day.

WTF he doesn't even have a fight coming up and I've heard from the grapevine that he truly might be finished with his career. over the next 6 moths we'll know more.

personally I see him finishing his last 2 fights, ONLY to get the sour taste out of his mouth from his last 2 age affected performances. too bad he will just be older slower and possibly unable to compete anywhere NEAR where he is used to.

if I were him, i'd say F it i'm OUT

Mayweather is like Rodney Dangerfield....he gets no respect lol

He beat Hatton like he never been beat before...2 years and 2 fights prior to Pacquaio fighting him, how is this even a question of what ruined him.

I missed cortez punching ricky in the head and face. he actually helped ricky, if you know what you are watching in the ring you would see that ricky was getting the absolute worst of it in the clinch.

how did cortez help Floyd ? I think that is what you're implying here

unless cortez was getting in the way and taking those clean lead rights for him, is the only way Ricky could have won

Hatton even admitted Mayweather was physically stronger and a better infighter than he anticipated

Cortez did to Hatton what Kenny Bayless did to Maidana he stopped him fighting his fight. Both referees were blatantly biased ion Mayweathers favour were they paid off??? I know what I think. Both should be banned from officiating

C.J. do you really believe the ref played that big a roll when he was hitting both with the better shots on the inside?

Maidana never bit Mayweather C'mon man you cannot believe that surely.
Yes I truly believe both Cortez in the Hatton fight & Bayless in Maidana II were both blatantly pro Mayweather In Maidana 1 Tony Weekes called it straight dowen the middle let both get away with ****. Floyd didn't like that he is used to being protected so he hired Bayless. I always rated Bayless as a referee till I saw that despicable performance in Maidana II. He has lost all credibility in my eyes

Was Cortez supposed to allow Hatton to break the rules?

I love when I hear people say that Cortez should have allowed Hatton to foul.

"He didn't let Hatton fight his fight." Well, no ****. Fighters who consistently break the rules with their fighting style shouldn't be allowed to do so.

So were referees supposed to allow Luis Lazarte to fight his fight? Hell no. He should have lost points and been DQ'd multiple times.

Hatton was just trying to wrestle and hold, cortez done the right thing in breaking that crap up.

Hatton destroyed himself, pac was just the last hand to push him over the edge.

The guy didn't even deserve to be in the ring with either floyd or manny, he was a bum and will be forever remembered as a bum

I don't think Hatton was trying to be dirty he was trying to make it ugly which is not the same. Cortez definitely ruined the fight by taking a point away from Hatton. If you watch the Porter v Brook fight was Porter trying to be dirty? Saying all that I think Mayweather would have won regardless he was landing the cleaner shots on the inside and he didn't need Cortez's help.

So Hatton's a bum try looking at his resume its not amazing but its decent far from being a bum.
