I love classic boxing as much if not more than most of you, but some of you are such absolute chickenshits when it comes to praising a contemporary.

The guy is an atg puncher in the flesh, but you bunch won't admit it until ten years from now when it's safe.

Book mark this thread, you bunch of cowards, you'll be owing me an apology. :good

You are right, Liston never even stopped somebody with a jab to the body like Kov did despite having a larger size advantage over most of his opponents than the light heavyweight.

Who has Kovalev ko'd who is really of world class ?

Nathan Cleverly?
Kovalev has been feasting on journeymen.
In 27 fights he has actually only kod 7 men.
The first 4 of those had records of:

Woods 8-1-0
Fogle 15-6-0
Daniels 6-5-0
Amberg 2-5-1.

Kovalev has undeniable power, but to compare him to Foster at this stage of his career is extremely premature.

Foster ko'd world class light heavies, left them SPARK OUT,anyone watching his fights with Rondon, Quarry, and Depaula would know this.
The tragic death of Simanov does not indicate that Kovalev has huge power , boxers who have died as the result of injuries have often succumbed to average / good punchers.Paret is an example .
Foster had a fast accurate jab and atg power in both hands, he kod real heavyweights, something Kovalev has yet to do
Simanov was "doing well"? I didn't give him a round,he took a sustained beating,[ especially to the body ,]that eventually broke him down, he was hit flush in every round.
Kovalev punches long, he has a good variety of punches and works the body well, but he is open when he throws. especially to the left hook.

Kovalev needs to unify the title and score some victories over men not on their pension plan and not guys like Simanov who had only been in a couple of fights scheduled for over 8rds.
Simanov's last 3 opponents were:

3-2-0
16-22-0
2-0-0

He had neither the boxing ability nor the punch to trouble Kovalev.
Let's see Kovalev against some live opposition before naming him a frightening ,atg puncher
Stevenson has beaten better men and their comparable results favour him.
I like Stevenson to stop him with a left hook.

-Cleverly is world class, he's been a top rated fighter for years now. Undefeated, never stopped, never down.

-Foster only "KOed" 8 men in his first 27 fights. So, good company. None of them aside from a washed up Besmanoff are worth mentioning either. In contrast, Kov KOed the undefeated Agnew with a jab.

-Kov is KOing World Class LHWs, and stopping them in devestating fashion.

-Perot went down from a bad 12 rd beating from man who wanted to punish him. He had been brutally KOed in two of his previous three fights in less than a year's time. Horrible analogy.

-Book mark it, Kov will go down as a great puncher and you were too chicken**** to call it when it happened. He has unified. I'll hold you to your Stevenson prediction, if he grows a pair and faces his outstanding contender.

I asked for the other world class men Kovalev has ko'd
Who are these "world class lhvys" Kovalev is stopping?
Agnew was undefeated?
Yes, and of his last 15 opponents, only 3 had winning records so that means jack **** . His resume is nothing special at all.

Foster's first 27 opponents included 10 heavyweights!
In that 27 he was facing the likes of:
Hank x2
Mina
Whitehurst
Terrell
Jones
Besmanoff
Folley

Want to pick out Kovalev's best7 opponents?

I f I was chicken **** would I pick the outsider Stevenson to ko Kovalev?
If they fight and I'm wrong I'll come on here and admit it,will you?

The jury is still out on Kovalev, he has stopped ONE world class man.

This is your statement which I ,and others have taken issue with.

"Kov is the scariest puncher I've ever seen, scarier than Foster".

Have a look at Foster koing Mike Quarry35-0-0 Rated no 5 .
Have a look at Foster koing Finnegan Rated no 6.The only man to do so.

That's an all time great puncher.
Kovalev has ONE SCALP of any note on his belt.

Campillo and Hopkins are both good scalps.

-World Class is a broad term. I believe it would include Cleverly and Campillo who were rated in the top 3 by RING, Agnew and Caperallo who were undefeated fringe contenders, and Simakov who was a rising prospect like Kovalev.

-The only HWs worth anything at the point Foster fought them were Jones, Foley, Mina, Terrell whom he lost to, and Whitehurst who he failed to stop. So I don't see what you are bragging about with that list.

-Sure: Hopkins #1 LHW, Cleverly #3 LHW, Campillo #3 LHW, Agnew, Caperallo, Sillah, and Boone(fought everyone and has a KO win over Stevenson).

-Sure, I'll admit to being wrong for favoring Kovalev if that happens.

-I've seen those knockouts, and Kovalev scares me more. Foster took guys out with sharp accurate punches. Tremendous puncher. I see Kovalev knocking guys out with arm punches he didnt' even load up on. He KOed Sillah with a jab thrown without his feet even set. I have to call it out how I see it. I think Kovalev's power is the scariest I've seen P4P.

Those underlined are average fighters.
Boone stopped Stevenson at super middle .Stevenson kod him later Kovalev stopped him and won a split dec both at lhvy.

I see Kovalev knocking out also rans.
If he starts doing that to top men, I'll revise my opinion.
Meanwhile Stevenson has the better scalps on his CV.
I'm not bragging ,I'm constructing an argument that I think shows your original statement is incorrect.

-I disagree. I think Campillo was one of the better Light Heavweights, he was RING#3 and its agreed that he's been a victim of several robberies, especially against Cloud.

-Camp and Clevelry were the top men. Only him, Hopkins, and Stevenson were rated higher.

-I disagree. Stevenson was lucky to catch a vulnerable Dawson for the lineal title,.

an interview with Real Combat Media in Atlantic City less than a week before this fight, Iceman John Scully, former principal trainer of Chad Dawson, noted there were serious training issues, weight loss concerns and behavior problems dealing with Chad in the Las Vegas camp while he was attempting to train Dawson for Andre Ward, with Dawson not listening to his trainer or following his instructions. Scully made up his mind to leave Dawson for good after the Ward bout and set up a new gym in Florida, and did not speak to Chad again.[3]

Hopkins is the better scalp at this point.

Steven's other big win, Cloud decisioned Campillo in a universally panned robbery.

Bellow lost to Clevelry.

Fonfara topped Campillo but he looked to be done after getting blown out by Kovalev.

Not gloat but... oh well, I made a fortune on this fight. I can't believe that people could not see the skill in Kov... punch selection, punch angles, feinting and solid footwork. Even some supposedly learned observers saw him as just another Shumenov.

As a great man once said, A fool and his money are some party.

Indeed.

His feinting and punch selection is excellent. Jackson is creating a monster.

Maybe not but he just dominated Hopkins like he's never been dominated before.
