I couldn't believe when they announced it on TV that the Hopkins camp had objected to Kovalev punching the wall to "harden his gloves"... I was like: "no way...he don't need to do all that, he's a puncher...and he's working with an 18 year advantage."

But then they actually showed Kovalev doing knuckle push-ups on his gloves...then punching his gloves together to make them harder...I'm thinking "this is one fked up mfker...he has NO confidence in his punching power that he has to do ALL THAT to fight a 49 year old man." Right there, I lost respect for Kovalev...what a complete dirtbag.

Right away, it reminded me of the Tito fight when hopkins and his camp had made tito's dad re-do his wraps because tito was trying to cheat.

Dude, you have an 18 year advantage... at LEAST a 6 lb advantage if you believe HBO ( I think Kovalev was a lot more than that)...and you're the puncher. and you STILL have to doctor your gloves to fight this guy?

But as we saw, he wasn't able to put hopkins away despite landing a lotta clean punches that have KO'd other guys...so maybe he has a point. Maybe punching the wall before the fight so he can harden his gloves is the only way he can generate his vaunted punching power.


Now we know where Kovalev gets his so-called power from... I hope every one of his future opponents were watching this and will do the exact same thing when they fight him.
