Not that I disagree with Larry Merchant...but Hopkins did sort of have a point about 'jr' and 'super' not existing in the original eight weight classes.

It should be Serial Lobotomy at this point. I'm having a hard time being convinced he stopped at 1.

Honestly, Hopkins looked like the slightly bigger fighter.

In the upper body, the shoulders, the neck and the arms, he looked even more muscolar than Kovalev.

And at the weigh in he looked a bit taller, too.

You need to go back to the opticians and change your glasses prescription.

Yeah but your point is irrelevant because kovalev didn't beat Hopkins with his size, he beat him with his boxing ability.

6lbs weight difference is significant but to say Kovalev is a cruiserweight is ridiculous. We've seen other fighters overcome bigger weight disadvantages.

Hopkins wasn't just out muscled he was out boxed as well, he simply lost to the better man and probably the best light heavy he's ever fought.

Hopkins lost fair and square, no excuses. I was rooting for Hop due to his age, but he was outworked and outgunned by the better man. Kov deserves his credit, NOBODY saw a performance that dominating coming and it wasnt due to a size advantage but the bility to keep the pressure up for 12 rounds non stop.

They both weighed in below 175 and above 168. Both Hopkins and Kovalev were FUNCTIONING LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHTS.

This in-ring weight realization that has just now swept over everyone is ridiculous.

You have to give people who walk around at the weight they fight more credit because they dont use the size advantage they rely more on their skills

I think what makes it worse is he called out nothing but LMWs and that he even tried to lobby the likes of Larry Merchant to publicly accuse them of being cowards if they refused to accept his challenge.

But that's besides the point. It's the irony of B-Hop fans using his size disadvantage against Kovalev as an excuse for him losing which is so comical.

Don't forget that these same whinging bigots were crying about the huge size advantage Lomachenko had over Gary Russell Jr. too.

An insurmountable and thoroughly unfair ΒΌ lb. lol

Everyone moves up a weight division or 2 on fight night so everyone is a different weight division
Cruiserweights become HW's on fight night so your argument doesnt really make sense he didnt lose to a CW
If Hopkins weighed 182 then he was also a cruiserweight :rofl
