Adonis Stevenson is 5ft 10/11 in and is a current LHW champion and beat two bigger guys in Dawson and Bellew who are around 6ft 3in.

The great James Toney went from Middleweight to Heavy weight and he is only 5ft 10in. He out-boxed the legendary Holyfield at heavy weight and out-boxed Jirov at Cruiserweight to win a title. If you're skilled enough then you'll go far regardless.

Smw tend to be 5"10 to 6"1' with a few shorter and few bigger. I think smw is what the average man who is 5"10 would fight at

Not if you have good speed, and have the mindset that you might need to take a punch to get into rage vs the taller fighter.

Not too small at all. You're probably a tad below average in terms of height.

3 people in the last 30 years :rofl

Tua got his ears boxed off by much taller guys who can box...never won a title....and this is an an era where john ruiz won a piece 2 times as well as 40 year old guys.

Tyson was a phenom, wont be anyone else doing that again

Toney is a hall of Famer having won titles at 160, 168, 175, cruiser and beat the **** out of ruiz for the WBA belt before testing positive for a banned substance. all at 5 foot 9

so pretty much if you are hall of fame material like toney or tyson, no
its not a disadvantage at all.......

Well Andre Ward has a shorter reach and James Toney, Jeff Lacy and Glen Johnson are all shorter in height so I would say no not you're too small for 168. It obviously depends on your speed, power and skill as well and I would say if you can get to 160 without being weight drained, then you might want to start there.

had to look it up because i couldnt remember

On April 30, 2005, he defeated John Ruiz by a unanimous decision in a 12-round match for the World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight Championship. However, Toney failed his post-fight drug test, testing positive for the anabolic steroid stanozolol.[4] This led to the New York Athletic Commission changing the bout's official outcome to a "no-contest", deducting the win from Toney's career record and banning him from boxing for 90 days

the whole point really isnt if someone is too short....its mainly that it is a disadvantage and a big one when a 5 foot 9 super middle fights a 6 foot 2 super middle for example... assuming they have somewhat similar world class skills.... there are exceptions, but very few

I think it will come down to what suits you.
I have been a big fan and follower of the SMW division for years and can recall effective SMWs of that height and smaller - Eubank and Ottke for a start who are in my opinion top 5 SMWs who have accomplished more than any active SMW today, there is also N Benn who did well and T Malinga.
Then you have other SMWs who have done well winning titles Lacy, R Reid.
Off the top of my head. No doubt if I thought about it, there would be others. In fact as I type, there was Catley and 3 time SMW champ Beyer, and Thobela

Jean Pascal and Adonis Stevenson are each about that size, Marvin Hagler was 5'9 and Dwight Muhammad Qwai, one of the most underrated fighters ever (look him up) was 5-6.
