Is anyone still clinging to the idea that Hopkins quit against Dawson?

Yeah but that was an obviously him quiting, waving his hand no,and turning away from the Sugar, difference scenario being we KNOW that Duran quit, there is NO question if he did or not..

With Hopkins it is up for debate that he got injured,he didn't exactly pull a Duran even if he did fake it,Duran let the world know straight up he didnt want it no more

Dawson stepped aside to allow the Hopkins-Pascal II fight on the condition that the winner fight him.

I dont blame Dawson for not wanting to give Hopkins a rematch after the first fight either. Either way the ruling was overturned and the WBC ordered a rematch
His antics in the Calzaghe and Jones II fight come to mind

I think it says more about the hype Kovalev gets for KOing bums. He couldn't KO a FIFTY year old who clearly doesn't have his reflexes anymore.

What was Kovalev afraid of? It's not like Hopkins has KOd anybody in TEN years. Sirgay's output and connect % was DUDU compared to the weak LHW opposition he mowed down.

So Hopkins took the Pascal fight knowing full well he would have to face Dawson instead of ducking Dawson and taking one of the other titles like Johnson who was IBF champion then, a man he had already easily beaten. Once again proof Hopkins wanted the Dawson fight.

Why would Dawson not want a rematch? In terms of money it was the most lucrative available, it's probably why he allowed Hopkins to face Pascal instead of getting revenge on Pascal. If Hopkins won he would have a bigger fight with Hopkins.

Dawson had picked up the title by a foul and only when it was changed to a NC did Dawson then want a fight. Only reason Dawson wouldn't want a rematch is because he'd gotten paid and the title and it didn't matter to him how he won it, he didn't cafe about proving himself the better man. He tried to run and only when the title was no longer his did he have the balls to agree to a rematch.

His antics in the Calzaghe and Jones Jr fight have no correlation. He didn't duck these two men he fought them and all he did was try and get a breather, he wasn't trying to get out of the fight just con the ref to give him some time.

You're right. Perhaps Duran should have faked an injury...

Yes Hopkins quit against Dawson to say he didn't just because he didn't against kovalev is an argument only the hard of thinking would put forward.

It's incredibly far-fetched to think a 48 year old hurt his shoulder after crashing awkwardly to the canvas.

My grandma claimed she broke her hip in a similar way, although everyone knows her osteoporosis was a sham and she was faking it.

Dawson had been calling out Hopkins for years and Hopkins had ignored him.

Glen Johnson? He was not the IBF champion when Hopkins fought Pascal, Cloud was, and Glen Johnson was just a green prospect when he fought Hopkins.
Dawson did not want to give Hopkins a rematch because he believed that Hopkins had taken a dive.

He allowed Hopkins to face Pascal on the condition that they enter into a legal agreement with the winner having to fight him. It really was his best chance at getting Hopkins to fight him. Hopkins had ignored him up to the point citing all kinds of silly excuses.
    Your rewriting history here

Hopkins leaned on Dawson back and Dawson pushed him off. It was not like he bodyslammed Hopkins or anything like that. Dawson along with Shaw was digusted with what they believed as Hopkins faking a injury to get out of the fight with the belt. Why on earth would Dawson want to fight Hopkins again after that?

Hopkins himself was not interested in a rematch either. It was the WBC that stepped in and ordered that fight
Hopkins had been ducking Dawson for years

If you are willing to fake being hit with illegal blows to get a breather, and even points docked from your opponent, then is it really that hard to believe he was not willing to take it a step further.

And did Hopkins ever produce the MRI scan?
