This is Vlads 17th defense and unlike many I think Pulev is a tough opponent. I seen him defeat bigger men and he can punch very hard when he sits down on his punches, sneaky left and can box and move a bit.

While I think Vlad will take a decision or a possible late stop I think Pulev has the best chance in quite sometime. Pulev has size, goes to the body well with the jab and has shown late power.

    This should be interesting

Who do you pick? Should Vlad win or lose what does it do to his legacy

I have to favour Wlad, and I think it would help his legacy.

Pulev is the current no 1 Ring Magazine contender, and that is a legacy fight for any champion.

Pulev is a worthy contender, yes.
Wlad hasn't fought one this year.
I think Pulev might well be better than Povetkin as well.

Pulev looks decent and bona fide enough to say : he might actually win this. I'm just putting it out there.
Wlad deserves to be a firm favourite but Pulev's legitimate.

Stick Pulev on Joe Louis's resume, and he is a significant name.

Pulev 80inch reach, 246lb, 6'4 with a very good jab and good footwork, lacks power but it is solid and tough. good addition to your legacy, pulev will do a better job than povetkin because he has size and wont be pushed on his ass in the clinch.

I don't think the RING recognized Heavyweight Champion has defended against multiple #1 contenders in some time. It's just something that has not happened too often.

In fact as far as I can tell, only two have since 1970.

Michael Spinks was the last, who defended against Holmes in a rematch of his title win in 1986 before dropping the title to #1 Mike Tyson in 1988.

Joe Frazier defended against #1 Ali in 1971 before dropping the title to #1 Foreman in 1973.

The last Heavyweight Champion to make succeful defenses against multiple #1 contenders in an unbroken reign was Ali in the mid 1960s against Liston II, Patterson, Terrell, and Foley.

I think Pulev is **** and unless Wlad has seriously gone back he will take a boring decision or a late stoppage win.I wouldn't pay tuppence to watch it.
I would like to see Wlad against Stiverne.

Pulev is average and Povetkin was worse.

Nah, Povetkin is really excellent and continues to impress. Overmatched against Wlad but his speed, power, and combinations are class. Stiverne is good but his counter punching approach is all wrong for Wlad, he'll get picked apart.

Right now a W over Pulev won't do much for Wlad's legacy. If Wlad retires later and Pulev manages to win a belt or two then his importance for Wlad's record would obviously rise.

it adds a lot to his legacy.

that's because his legacy is weak, so a win over an average contender pulls up his average admirably, as did the povetkin win.

I was very impressed with Povetkin in this fight, he showed improvement and this guy really beat Perez and Thompson

Povetkin crushes any version of Haye.

Pov is a more rounded fighter than Pulev.

I don't think Pulev always looks for the KO but he is pretty aggressive when he smells blood. He looks to win and has done so over some decent opposition and has good amateur pedigree

Vlad needs to use the jab dominantly and use the rocket to keep Pulev at bay and cautious

Pulev needs to find the range with the jab and go to the body and press the action. He has to make Vlad fight early

Pulev is a hair heavier,Vlad is a inch or so taller both men are big guys and my thinking is they have a 12 round plan but you can never tell what could develop
