Is he actually considered a great trainer or a drunk that profitted from the work of others like Cus?

Wondered if he couldve kept Tyson on the straight and narrow if they didn't break up

I've read Tyson's book "Undisputed", and he says that he lost interest in fighting after Cus died.

Tyson lost his senses when Buster hit his sorry ass with that uppercut.

    D'Amato >>> Rooney >> Atlas.

He was already ****ed up before that fight. Apparently he was occupied with booze and women. And lets not forget his corner in the fight that used a condom filled with water against the swelling

Rooney has not trained one other notable fighter to success. He had Pazienza for a while but that was not Rooney's doing. Way overrated due to his connection with D'Amato and Tyson. Atlas has had more success than Rooney.

I wasn't trying to mock him he was in with a legend there and that punch was an absolute beauty. It sounded like a gun went off. I doubt even Tyson could've finished Rooney off in any more spectacular fashion. lol

A disciplinary trainer and extremely underrated. It's sad that he didn't do much after Tyson left him. I believe alcohol and personal problems got the better out of him.

It's the sound of it that gets me more than anything.
