Pulev showed plenty of heart by getting up and trying to land punches, but his chin is not like Brewster's, who is very definition of cast iron. In any case, Wlad doesn't fight the same way as he did in the first Brewster fight, he paces himself a lot more. First round of today's fight is an example, he didn't go for the kill in the fear of gassing out. I don't believe you can beat Wlad in the 'war of attrition' type of fight. Someone with Sanders type of tools could do still do it with the early blitz, but there isn't anyone out there like that.
Pulev hasn't taken the whole affair seriously that's what I meant with 'heart'. You saw Pulev making a clown face after the first knockdown? That tells me he's not mentally fit to become a champion. You saw all the pre-fight whining and complaining. His heart just isn't in this. He was already making up excuses. My recommendation to Pule would be to take a year off. Get rid of his dumbass promoter and start from square zero. Maybe get a new trainer. He needs to work on his head movement, on his defense. He can still get another title shot in the post-Wlad era but he has to learn from tonight's disaster.
Yep. This forum was awesome back in the day. Now too many clueless kids who just don't understand the game.
Pulev, chin or no chin just plain stunk it up. Stupid plan to stand right in front of Wlad inviting him to hit your chin. Who were the amateurs who devised that fight plan? This guy was supposed to be Wlad's toughest opponent in awhile. Looked like a B level fighter clearly.
In today's barren heavyweight environment Pulev still has more in his locker than pretty much every other contender. I think out of the contenders only Povetkin is better that him. Joshua is promising, but at this stage who knows, he could be a huge flop. The rest are poor
What did you want him to do? Bullrush like Povetkin? Or just cover up for 12 round like Eddie Chambers and Chagaev? Wlad in his current form is a physical beast with super fast hands, very good skills and cautious approach which is a riddle impossible to solve for anyone around at the moment. There are just no world class heavyweight around to follow a game plan which would have any chance against him.
you are right,i am bulgarian and i think Pulev was terrible, after fight Klit vs Povetkin i was thinking Povetkin is for me top 3 fighter after Klit and Pulev ,after Klitschko vs Pulev fight now i think Pulev is a top 5 or maby top10 fighter....Thats the reality....Klit is amazing:yep:yep:yep
If he kept his chin up any higher and stood up any straighter, he'd be stratospheric. I mean, how could Wlad miss? Just another garbage HW fighter with minimal skills.
