Last night Anthony Mundine proved once again to be the saviour of boxing in Australia after he went to war with an undefeated power puncher 11 years his junior and like a true warrior defeated him in an amazing display of heart and courage.

It was a much needed boost to the Australian boxing scene after some disappointing and embarrassing performances over the last 10 months from his fellow countrymen such as Geale, Soliman, Brunker, Leapai, Capparello, Katsidis, Talipau, Dawson, Fletcher & Tomlinson on the world stage.

The Man dug deep and rose the occasion and on behalf of ESB I would like the thank you Anthony Mundine for Keeping Australian boxing alive, you are a true Australian hero. I will now leave the floor open for my fellow posters to show there appreciation for the great Anthony Mundine.

Posters have trashed Mundine from day 1 saying he had no heart. Well last night he thoroughly and utterly debunked that theory.

Exhibit A. Facing an undefeated World Champion after only 10 professional fights with no amateur experience. I would say this takes balls of steel.
Exhibit B. Getting up 5 times after being bashed senseless by Clottey. For comparison Daniel "The Real Deal" Geale quit after 1 knock down.
Exhibit C. Taking on a man almost half his age with a KO percentage of over 70% in his very next fight. You find the true measure of a man by how he fights back against adversity.

Mundine is now the greatest fighter of his generation. There is no doubt now. Such a performance from someone with one eye, a hip replacement, crooked feet which prevents him from running for cardio at 39 years of age confirms that Mundine is indeed The Man.

The main reason why the night was such a success is the fact that an independent promoter ran the show and put on an entertaining undercard unlike the shambolic affairs Boxa dished up over the years.
Congrats to all the undercard fighters especially
Lenny Zappa, Lucas Browne and Ky MacKenzie.

No doubt there'll be more to discus as Mundine's twilight career unfolds.

Agree 100% MM - but you'd have to admit that mundine has dished up some of the embaressing performances of late. last night was an obvious exception.

Also, you didn't pick choc in this fight?! he proved a lot of ppl wrong last night and hat off to him

I wonder who will be next. He should call out Trout

It was an incredible performance. He didn't take a backward step all night and pushed the action heaps.

He is a very versatile boxer and it's amazing he has transformed from a WBA champion and top 3 super middleweight back in 2007/08 (behind Calzaghe and Kessler) to a genuine title challenger at junior middleweight.

    Incredible stuff!

He is probably over at boxrec with boxing expert pureist who is too busy training future champions to actually watch boxing or starting stupid threads there. pureist actually started a thread about Michael Zerafa and had him fighting an opponent much worse than the opponent he ended up facing.:patsch
