Was he talented? Yes he had very good speed and power but it takes more than that to be great. The Wlad win flatters his actual ability.

He was one dimensional. He basically did the same thing in every fight, applying the same tactic of trying to catch you with the counter straight left. Kind of like Razor Ruddock who also relied all too much on his signature move The Smash.

Sanders' also had a terrible chin. When he was 23-0 he was one punch KO'ed by a 12-1 Nate Tubbs. He was dropped multiple times against Rahman before being stopped and KO'ed in every loss, his chin was a serious liability.

There are many fighters who have failed to reach their potential because they were too lazy, ill disciplined or were distracted by their vices. Bowe, Douglas, Tua, Witherspoon, Golota etc.

Sanders did waste his talent but I don't think he was so remarkable that he should be regarded as the biggest waste of talent ever when you have boxers like Bowe and Douglas who were so lazy yet achieved more than Sanders ever did or could and even then underachieved.

    Overrated.
The Zab Judah of the heavyweight division.

He was hella fast and powerful but that was about it. He lacked the ring IQ that great fighters had. Granted, under the right trainer he might have been great.

Look at Zab Judah, year after year, fight after fight he takes heavy punishment because of his shoulder roll defence. He never learned and Corrie looked to be in a similar boat.

Golota really was an odd chap totally handled bowe psychically but mentally appeared unable to cope , and the lennox lewis fight was really surprising even before the first bell he looked like he really didn't want to be there. Certainly a wasted talent as was say joe bugner

They do count, but no one has ever matched Wlad's skill level except Sanders with his quick counters. All the other losses are Wlad beating himself. They all took stupid punishment before he burned himself out. Hollow victories.

He was insanely talented, he wasn't called "the sniper" for nothing, he was a professional golf player, and golf requires unreal prediction abilities and coordination.

He started boxing terribly late, and he didn't train properly or had a proper, skilled trainer.

Yet his handspeed was mind blowing. In some of his videoclips, it's impossible to see the hands.

And he could land those wide flashy shots right on the point of a chin.

He stunned Vitali with a single counter left to the chin, in the very first round.

Vitali took a second to realize how hurt he was, and immediately jumped on his bycicle and started running backward with a panicked expression, pure Khan style.

He also had an helluva chin. His defence consisted merely in keeping his hand high on the side of the head, but in spite of that he ate tons of shots before being stopped the few times it happened.

Yes, he has been one of the biggest wastes of HWs division.

He's still one of the most powerful southpaws there have been in the division, ever.
His ko percentage is insane considering he started old, was out of shape and nobody teached him skills.

But boxing is like that. Full of naturally gifted people that for a ton of different reasons never expressed their full potential.

But Corrie Sanders at least died like a hero. Shot while using his body to cover his son during a robbery.

R.I.P. Corrie sanders, one of the most humble, brave and level headed boxers ever.

if wlad had been in shape to go 12, this would be his only loss.

He wasn't that talented, let's be honest here. His potential wasn't wasted, in fact, I think he overachieved a little.

That Corrie Sanders/Wlad fight was frightening. Before the match I had told a few friends who were not big boxing fans about Wlad and how he was this very fast and powerful heavyweight who was just messing people up like nobodies business. So they came over to watch it with me and Corrie just beat him up like it was nothing keeping him on the canvas and knocking him out in 2 rounds. Wlad looked like he did not know how to fight. Corrie made these beautiful clear shots like he was fighting in real time and everything else was in slow motion. One of the biggests shocks for me in a match. And he did this without even having fought more than a few rounds total in 3 years before the fight.

Sanders was just a crap fighter who could hit hard and was lucky enough to be, in his worst form ever, fighting a weak champion.

Corrie had been brought in to obviously take a fall, but he didn't read the script.

and then he got shot dead.
