Hahahaha! Very true. He is trying to talk his way into the fight and while it would sell, he needs to go away before he gets further damaged.

 

How can you say that was impressive? Pulev didn't know what he was doing. Implement a bit of movement. Use the ring ffs. Bring your guard up. He ignored every defensive tactic in the book while standing in front of a power puncher.

Did you see Wlad in the corner when Pulev was getting counted out?

I never seen him that ecstatic before which tells me he was having a nightmare time with Pulev . Punching his two arms out togetheratsch
Elbows to the neck. Headlocks. Excessive mauling.

Riddick Bowe would laugh at a guy like Pulev.

 

Really guys pulev may of been the no1 contender but come on wlad should not of let him get out of that first round . For the first minute I thought I had maybe underrated pulev as I have in the past on here or another forum suggested to flea man that i didn't really rate pulev .wlad didn't look himself defensively and looked a little like he might have a harder night than usual . Wlad even appeared a little troubled by a jab but with a puncher like wlad against an opponent that showed no defensive ability no head movement and really no upper body movement .we shouldn't be surprised that Wlad showing for me great power and surprisingly fast punching dispatched pulev the way he did . Wlad does appear to be slipping but that could make for some exciting fights .

I was pointing out to dinovelvet that he made that prediction, and that by logical extension, he could hardly deny Wlad credit when he beat him.

 

I do read them for comedy. He thinks Pulev had the heart and skills of a journeyman.

Rather ignorant. Pulev is a decorated amateur star and skilled professional ranked number one in the world. McVey has no clue! He's wrong. A journeyman doesn't get up twice from bombs. A journeyman doesn't become upset with himself in a fight where he looses and ends up with a broken face. Pulev showed plenty of heart. He also had some moments of success.

Wlad was just too strong for him. Keep in mind the same guy think Marciano lacks one punch power.atsch


I'd like to see Wlad fight Fury or Wilder next if either man can win their next fight. The same jokers will build them up and year them down once Wlad obliterates them.

 

I rarely venture an opinion about Vlad but I think he is at the age where if he loses (even loses badly) he has not been exposed but rather has gotten old.

 

The RTL (and thus also HBO) directors missed a very interesting moment where Wlad was seemingly taunting the downed Pulev. Watch it at 22:38 on an other channel:

I would agree. A better question is why? My short answer, Wlad's been on top for too long, and isn't American or from the UK. Most of his haters were born after Marciano retired, and really aren't well versed on the sport.

One of the classiest champions of all time, Wlad knocks his critics and haters out with his performances in the ring.

I expect the haters to get louder if Wlad approaches Joe Louis record for successful title defenses. I suspect he'll retire before he gets there but will pass Larry Holmes.

 

Pulev was a sore loser, and didn't cooperate with the pre fight marking. He didn't pay his sanctioning fees for the other belts, which could come back to bite him.

Instead he bitched and complained before the fight. After the fight Pulev grabbed the mike and said Wlad got lucky. Lucky as in flooring you three times, and breaking your face?

As for Wlad’s performance I re-watched the fight. His speed, timing, power and accuracy remain. Pulev has a way of taking away a jab with his circling hand style, but I saw no slippage in Wlad at all. If Haye had half the guts Pulev did, he would have ended up on his back too.

I was a tad worried that Wlad might be a little distracted coming into this fight He’s getting married soon with a pregnant fiancé. Speculation on my part…the camera showed Vitali’s wife on the phone right after the ending. I think she called Wlad’s fiancé to tell her Wlad won and its over.
