Margarito would never be a welterweight in another era.

Ask me whether he'd have good fights with the 60s crowd at middleweight and my answer would be a resounding 'yes'.

You think Margarito has more nous than Povetkin, Haye and Byrd? He could arguably be a better fighting machine than any of them taking style out of the equation, but he's a straight forward pressure fighter.

Certainly better than Sam Peter, yeah.

Or you're saying Margarito is more skilled than Wlad?

What are you talking about? I answered a post that compared last night's fight with some of Tyson's defenses and you found that bizarre, so that begs the question if you can't see the difference between Tyson and Wlad in terms of schooling and fundamentals. Not style - fundamentals.

And who the hell are you calling anyone a hipster when you're slating guys like Floyd for never having met opponents with good technique? Castillo, Coralles, DLH and Cotto are all miles ahead of what we saw last night.

He's certainly more technically skilled than Wlad, yes. Wlad is a more skilled ring general, though. He's very good at maintaining preferred range, that's much is true.

But you can really name any from the generation of WWs that you love to talk **** about. Marquez and Cotto are of course on another planet in terms of technique, but Judah, Clottey etc are way better as well.

Here's the thing: to break into the top 10 at HW you don't need to face a murderers row.

To be as good as you think Floyd is, you do.

Antonio Margarito is more technically skilled than Wladimir Klitschko?

    Yeah, alright then.

Again, comparing smaller fighters to 6'6 17.5 stone men is stretching to try and prove a point that doesn't need to be made.

Next up; Wlad is slow, Miguel Canto was much quicker on his feet than Wlad.

    Absolute berk you are Bokaj.

You think Corbett and Fitzsimmons looked bad?

Use the metric system will you. Get the hell out of here with your stones.

But Lewis looked much better than Wlad - and Bowe, who wasn't that much smaller, looked leagues ahead.

But of course size has a lot to with it and I suggested as much in my opening post. But the technical errors made last night... This thread was just my gut reaction to them.

I'm comparing your incessant (and largely erroneous) whining about the lack of technical quality of Floyd's opponents and today's mid divisions in general, with you defending the technical shambles last night.

    That's a big joke.

That you can't see that explains quite a bit, I suppose.

Bowe was amazing on the inside. He had a good jab too.

He had no defence and couldn't throw a straight right hand to save his life.

    Double standards much?

    What, specifically?

Corbett, for his part, moved a hell of a lot better than Pulev did considering both were in with known devastating punchers.

    Again, because it's about context.

I expect more of the lower weight classes.

I expect less textbook finesse out of men of Wlad and Pulevs size.

And yes, I rate Lennox Lewis as the third greatest heavyweight of all time, much higher than I rank Wlad, and I think Lennox would blast him inside a few rounds prime for prime.
