The Lewis vs Golata fight was in danger of not happening, nobody could find Andrew Golata, not even his camp, and for a period just a couple of hours before the fight, the fight was in danger of being canceled.
Somebody finally found Golata somewhere having a nervous breakdown. His camp had to convince him to go through with the fight.
    GREAT WIN BY LENNOX!!!

Seems Lewis made Golata lose his **** before the fight. Happens to the best of us.
Still, Golata just made Bowe his teddy bear in the previous fights.
    He was the same fighter.

Don't embellish. The cut was caused by a grazing right hand where the seam of the glove cut the skin. It had nothing to do with punching power or skill. Just luck.

He was getting the **** beat out of him and was lucky the fight was waved off by the ring Doc. Did you see how spent lewis was at the end of round 6? Vitali up 4-2 on all judges scorecards, rag dolling him around the ring at the end and him plopping helpless on his stool with a look of demoralization on his face.

His legs were completely worn out from fighting a bigger, stronger and better fighter. When a big heavy loses their legs, they are easy to put down. On the verge of total physical and mental collapse, Lennox would have been put down the next round.

He's a smart man. He knows he got lucky and he didn't want to get in there again after because he knows he would have gotten destroyed in a rematch and hurt his legacy any further.

Byrd was never in any such trouble, he was moving his head, getting out of the way of shots and holding his own.

Lewis' best wins on paper: Vitali, Tua and Holyfield.

All Matched by Byrd and done better.

Lewis also vacated his IBF title so he didn't have to fight Byrd. He ducked all the southpaws in his career.

Lewis gave up the IBF title after being paid US$1 million by promoter Don King to do so, because King wished to promote a fight between Chris Byrd and Evander Holyfield for the vacant title.

Just looking at Vitali's pulverized face there.

Did the grazing of the skin cut open his mouth also?

    Why are there two cuts?
One above the eye and the cheek bone hanging off his face?

Good thread. :good Lemmox was a glass jawed yokel who fought bums like Tyson, Holyfield, Morrison, and Vitali and then retired at 37 :patsch. While Wladmidir fought tough super talented slick super undefeated super fighters like Pulev, Pianetta, Wack, Brock, and could still fight until he was 50. Wlad is the Goat.

Funny how the Lennox supporters excuse Lennox's narrow escape over Vitali by saying he was old (37) and fat....yet the Klitschkos at 38 and 42 were/are still in shape and rarely lost a round, much less go life and death with opponents.

Michael Grant was another HBO hype job.

Both Lewis and Steward said he wasn't ready to face Lewis. Then Golota exposed how easy it was to find his chin he suddenly became ready for the fight.

Grant then lost in a round to McCline in his next fight.

Grant was always mediocre at best and he's never been anywhere near any version of Wlad.

You've really hit rock bottom trying to hype up Michael bloody Grant :hi:

Always maintained this, too, LL was lucky to cut Vitali like that, without the cut he'd have lost the bout, there's no doubt for me, yet still its a legit win cos injuries can happen in a contact sport, twasn't LL's fault, but he should have rematched him. He wasn't clearly better, the fight was stopped due to an injury, questions as to LL remained for many, it was a dissapointment he never fought him again. I think he was helping Sanders prepare for the Vitali fight cos he wanted Sanders to win, had Sanders beaten Vitali LL would have come out of retirement to fight sanders you can bet on that. LL Knew he'd gotten lucky, he didnt want to test his luck again.

We just don't know how it would have gone if they really met, as same as we don't know what would have happened in a rematch between Lennox and Vitali, so chill, please. All three are legends, or else all three are bums, you decide.

The only retort of inarticulate rage that the lewistards can spew out is 3 letters and a number. That's all you guys have to hold onto.

Kind of sad that the highlight of a guys career was a fight were he got the **** beaten out of him and won on a flukish injury retirement.
