Ricky Burns and More Importantly Scottish Boxing

You can only fool even those scots for so long before they wake up from their drunken slumber and return to their senses and realise that all along Ricky Burns was a fraud, that Hearns lied to them about and told them all he was the greatest scot that ever lived.

 

Most of us were realistic about Ricky but what we admired and defended him for was his hard work and dedication to the sport he's 1 of the hardest working nicest guys around and some of the ridicule and shite he get's on here is undeserved did you think he would fight Katsidis? Did you think he would win? You were probably 1 of the ones screaming "shot!" after he did win.

 

Bit of an exaggeration there? It's already been said on here he was never one of the best. He was good though, he worked hard, beat who he had to and became world champion.

 

yes we were fooled when Ricky beat Ring No1 Martinez, ex world champ Moses, great fighter in Katsitas not forgetting stopping England's finest Mitchell in the Battle of Britan wasn't really much of a battle was it?
Let's not forget coming back to beat one of the best fighters I've seen live in Gonzalez, or the bravery he showed against Beltran boxing 10 rounds with a broken jaw then to cap off a **** career he lost to an exceptional fighter in Crawford.

Ricky Burns, should never have been in the ring with the likes of Crawford.

He didn't beat any Gonzalez, Gonzalez beat himself by gassing and quiting on his stool and breaking his hand against Burn's face

It had nothing to do with Burns dishing out any beating, it had everything to do with him standing in the middle of the ring as nothing more than a punch bag.

I'll give him credit, he had a good chin to withstand so much punishment.

But lets' be honest that's all he was. A human punch bag similar to when Homer Simpson takes up boxing with Mo and mo gets him to stand in the middle of the ring and take hits until his opponent tires out.

And don't get me started on the Beltram fiasco, where Ricky made out that he legitimately won the fight and acted like the broken jaw was just some random unfortunate event that fell out of the sky.

Failing to register that it was Beltram that broke his fuccking jaw from beating him down like a dog only to get cheated out of a decision because Ricky can't fight outside his home town.

Thankfully Crawford finished the job and then Ricky bows out trying to make a return by losing to the donar kebab man Dejan Zlaticanin

Is Derry not fighting on BoxNation anymore? I thought he'd signed over there unless his deal is up, Could be a fun fight and would show us how much Ricky has left Tommy Coyle has shown us that Derry can be outboxed but somehow he always seems to find that one punch to deliver the goods.

 

Your being very disrepectful to Mitchell a fellow proffessional with those comments. He didn't do himself justice in that fight, he and everyone else knows that. No need to slag off Mitchell because your golden boy is getting mugged off

 

It's not being disrespectful to Mitchell at all he's stepped up to world level twice now and both times been stopped before the half way point then afterwards he's always had an excuse I remember in the lead up to the fight with Ricky he was saying "You don't become a world champion if you can't punch" then a few months afterwards he was making excuses and saying Ricky wasn't a hard hitter etc.

I like Kevin has a person and he's a very good fighter, but he only never done himself justice coz Ricky never allowed him ti, GET REAL!
