Of course you are correct..if you did that you would just look foolish..because (presumably) you are not Spanish. Both Nacklins parents are from Ireland...thatsthepoint. He, quite naturally regards himself as having strong Irish roots. Surely no reasonable person can have a problem with that? Just for comparison purposes, consider this: One million people on the island of Ireland consider themselves to be British. A big chunk of you guys taxes goes to prop them up. All this despite the fact that they, and their ancestors have been in Ireland longer than the pilgrims have been in America. Fact. Now if you want to call something ridiculous, surely it's that and not Macklin?
Macklin was banjo'd. Watch the replays, he was gone from the moment the punch landed, eyes were rolling and legs folded from underneath him. Look at his corners reaction, they knew he was finished before he hit the canvas.
I've just seen the fight. Lencoreastside sorry about your guy. I told you he was awful in the Yebes fight. Here he looked exausted in the fifth round. I like Mack, but he should retire.
He looked awful since he was smashed up by Golovkin, honestly. Russ was green as Mack's trunks and ran him close (and has since lost to Findley). All it should have taken most people to realize the danger here was scouting the least bit of Heiland footage. Is he anything terribly special? Would he last the distance with Golovkin? Of course not - but Heiland was plenty challenging for the version of Macklin we've seen in the last year, that should've been readily apparent to all.
Give it a rest. Fact is is that Matt NEVER acknowledges his British roots, just his Irish ones. If he loves it that much (and he does love it a lot) why not move there? It's only 45 mins away after all...
Yet he tried to say it was fatigue! You don't go down like that and look like that on the ropes from being tired. He got knocked out, simple.
Now now, you're just being sulky BB. Macklin is quite entitled to parade his Irish roots, as I explained. No need to mention his British ones...they're obvious for Al to see...
my plan was to nip down the bookies before the football saturday afternoon and stick an ayrton on heiland to win in the last 1/4 of the fight (stupid odds, rare they get it so wrong), but the bleeding car wouldn't start. that battery cost me the best part of half a grand and a no-expense-spared birthday blow-out. bollocks.
Muchas Gracias, Txomo....lo siento too, believe me. I just hope he does call it a day now. I worry that he might box on. The only fight even remotely possible for him now is Andy Lee. Assuming Lee loses to Korobov, him and Macklin might be able to cobble together some sort of retirement benefit cash-out fight next spring....but Id prefer if they both retired for good.
Wouldn't it be even bigger money if Lee does beat Korobov? It wouldn't be like doing so launches him sight unseen into an infinitely more lucrative Golovkin shot or anything. ...or does it? :blood
The only thing I'd want to see Macklin and Lee launch themselves into at this stage is a new line of work. Besides I doubt there is anywhere on the planet ( not even Andys hometown, Limerick ) where another title shot for Macklin would have any credibility. After getting kod like that? Andy has said that IF he ever got to fight GGG, he would only train for a 3-4 rounds fight and go straight at him from the bell. He may as well, I suppose! But who knows?
Very wise not to do the credit card stuff, particularly in case you might be going for a bank loan in the future....
