Well to be fair, Briggs has done as much to get the Wlad fight as he did to get the Vitali fight...

Briggs keeps on saying this is the fight people want to see....does anyone really want to see this fight?

 

If Briggs beats a few people in the top 50 then I'm ok with this as a voluntary defense.

 

It's a complete farce of a fight, but to his credit he has stirred up at least some public interest in this fight. I know some people who aren't even casual boxing fans who find Briggs antics hilarious, and want to see the fight. Briggs has definitely put his name out there, so it's time for him to ask for a big fight.. If he wins it then why not? I don't see him beating anyone in the top 30-40 though.

 

While yu've got to admire Brigg's courage, he'd get even more busted up than in the Vitali fight. I'm amazed he can still talk after the beating he took in that fight.

You'd have to be sick in the head to want to watch Brigg's against Wlad.

 

I am not even sure if Briggs is serious about fighting Wlad, he's a bit attention whoring, isn't he? Or he is just doing anything to get money, and when the fight is on, crumble in the 1st round?

 

I think it's a money thing. I do wonder how he'd handle Wlad's power. He seemed to have grown an uncanny chin in the Vitali fight.

Even via KO1, Rob Calloway didn't make for much of a scalp in 2010 (having been a fringe contender at Cruiser for most of his career, with a few call-ups to heavy, most of them miserable failures, and with eleven losses, half a dozen of them by stoppage - and going 0-3-1 in his last few meaningful bouts going back two full years prior to Briggs, all of those at Cruiser) and should by no means have put anyone in line for a crack at the WBC belt then held by Vitali - but that version of Calloway does still trump Carmack, Phelps, Zumbano Love, Greer, Mireles, and Smith. This bum tour in 2014 really takes padding to a new extreme.

In three years following the Ibragimov loss, Briggs had a run of four consecutive KO1s (the first changed to a No Contest) that landed him the WBC #8 spot, making him thus at least vaguely credible for Vitali to choose for a mandatory defense. I don't think McGee, Pedro, Alexander or Calloway were in fact ranked by the WBC - maybe on the back end of a top 40, but even that's doubtful - but somehow that was enough, and Briggs vs. Pedro was sanctioned for the vacant Latino HW title, so Pedro must in fact have been ranked within 40 somewhere. If so too was Calloway, then presto change-o, you have an 'eighth ranked contended in the world'. :!:

Flimsy as that climb was, it beats his 2014 farce.

Wasn't Briggs knocked down like 5 times during his Prime against Lennox? He didn't 'grow a chin'. That logic don't exist. Vitali's punches are simply inferior to Prime Lewis's.

 

Never forget Briggs getting his goldey locks knocked off against...
