As report in the Daily Mail suggests that Bob Arum is working to put together a $1 billion fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, with pay-per-view in China serving as the key catalyst to come up with unheard of amounts of money for the much sought after superfight that has been mostly off the table since 2009, when the fight was first discussed.

Here's how the report breaks down the idea:

$5 PPV in China, which "(multiplied) by one-tenth of the Chinese population of 1.36 billion ... amounts to a phenomenal $650 million." Zou Shiming being featured on the card would actually be considered the driving force, as he's a superstar in China, with Arum claiming "hundreds of millions" watch his fights on TV there.
$95 PPV in the United States, with a target of three million buys, for about $300 million.
Site fee in Macau or Las Vegas, which without question would set an all-time record.
Worldwide TV rights bringing in huge money.
Closed circuit, merchandising, gate, the rest, and so on.
Potential purses: Mayweather $150 million, Pacquiao $100 million.
Now, you'll have to consider me skeptical that 136 million people will buy a $5 PPV in China. You'll also have to consider me skeptical that three million people will buy a $95 PPV in the United States. I know this fight is The Fight still, and I believe it would break records, but $95 is a huge ask of the blue collar boxing fan. The $70-80 we pay now is frankly a little absurd, all things considered.

Is there really a billion dollars in this fight? A BILLION? A BILLION?

I highly doubt theres a billion for the fight. Arum is just a dummy talking more Mayweather stuff when Pac is fighting really soon.

    $95 PPV???? I cant lie....knew that would happen...i'll pay

Just another report for Mr Arum :deal

nah, but half billion would not be out of the question and that would still be one of the biggest events since money was invented.

Arum always brings ****pola up about Pacquiao vs Mayweather right before Pacquiao's ppv fights. What he's doing is trying to sell the current **** fight with Algieri on the pretense that he's negotiating for a Mayweather fight next.

Not going to work this time honest Bob. Pacquiao-Algieri will bomb and you will go back to your broken record of "Mayweather does'nt want to fight Manny!" :nut

Paktards last week: pac said he will fight Floyd for less money!!! Come on Floyd !

Espinoza earlier this week: we offered him 40 million MINIMUM AND 35% PPV/PROFIT AND ARUM SIMPLY WAS NOT INTERESTED.

Paktards after: what a rip off!!! No way should Manny accept , pac should deny for his honor.!

    - CBS Corp. Chief Executive Leslie Moonves is helping to bring the two sides together and has the respect of Mayweather and Bob Arum

    - One official said Mayweather has even mentioned the idea of ending his Showtime deal with consecutive fights against Pacquiao

    - Officials from HBO have discussed with Moonves the idea of a joint broadcast for a Pacquiao-Mayweather bout

    - Pacquiao still needs to beat Algieri

    - Officials from both sides (Showtime and HBO) have confirmed that proposals have been exchanged this month for a possible fight.

Arum dismissed reports that he has turned down a $40-million guarantee for Pacquiao to fight Mayweather, with another 35% of the pay-per-view profit. Arum also said it was "erroneous" that he recently presented Moonves with a proposal for a 55%-45% purse split in Mayweather's favor.
