What does Smith know about boxing?
Smith did'nt know anything when he was defending Mayweather and he does'nt know a damn thing about boxing now.

Smith views Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez as bigger threats to Mayweather than Amir Khan, and even if one did, those fights we've seen and there was no controversy there.
Amir Khan bring those intangibles to the table that may give an aging Mayweather some problems.

i know ur a pac fan and sort of level headed so ill ask you.

    1. do you believe espinoza's posts on twitter about offering pac 40m flat fee with 35% ppv share etc (he states that was his offer and arum rejected it)

    2. do you think thats a fair offer for the megafight at this point? i myself feel for an opening offer thats about as good as it gets, i personally think pac can maybe bargain for 40%. i dont think at this point he deserves any more then that

I think if Pacquiao wins this Satorday night (Sunday morning in Macau, China), this Mayweather-Pacquiao fight talks will explode.

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum believes a fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is possible for 2015, because the networks, HBO and Showtime, are discussing the idea of working together - like their did in 2002 with Lennox Lewis-Mike Tyson - to stage a joint Mayweather-Pacquiao pay-per-view event.

According to Arum, CBS Corporation president and CEO Leslie Moonves is brokering the deal. CBS is the parent company of Showtime, which has a six-fight deal with Mayweather. Pacquiao is under contract to HBO, and returns to action this Sat urday night in Macau in a title defense against Chris Algieri.

"The networks are now already talking," said Arum to GMA News. "I am now more optimistic that the fight is going to happen than I was three or four years ago. I am talking to responsible people who are in touch with the Mayweather guys. All of these people have the ability to move it ahead and make it happen."

"If it happens, we're considering the Cowboys Stadium. It is the only venue which has the capacity to host a big show such as the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight."

"Still, it depends if Manny wins the fight. All I can say is that now, there's a ray of sunshine that it would be possible."

I agree but I think it's better to accomodate the most number of boxing fans possible and still generate the same amount of gate revenue. More seats at lower prices, fans love it.

Since when is it about the fans with this fight?

This fight will only be in Vegas. Yes, 100,000 seat stadium would entertain a lot of fans, but there is more money to be made in Vegas for the fighters. Closed circuit would be ridiculous for this fight. The week leading up to the fight would be electric in Vegas.

The only way this fight happens in Jerry's World is if Jerry himself put up some of that Cowboy money.

Well, the venue will go to the highest bidder.
    - Cowboys Stadium (Texas)
    - MGM Grand (Las Vegas)
    - Venetian (Macau, China)
    - etc.

A fight of this magnitude should be held in a place that knows how to put on mega boxing events, and IMO, that's Vegas.

This 'for the fans' talk sounds dangerously close to Bob's old 'we-need-a-temp-stadium' bull.

We will never know. Ali-Foreman was in Africa. Ali-Frazier 3 was in the Philippines.

If money rules then venue goes to the highest bidder.
