I think that the best version of Sanders...the Wlad fight...would destroy the best version of Peter...also of his Wlad fight....and would have done it rather quickly, as in 1 or 2 rounds.

 

Corrie's left was like a heat-seeking missile...and landing on that chin of Peter's...the one that let him down vs Jameel McCline...would have given him a devastating stoppage.

 

I like Sanders. A 39 year old Oleg Maskaev who was off for well over a year and returning from multiple surgeries was rocking Peter back and forth with left hooks before being broken down. Corrie was a natural southpaw with faster hands than Maskaev and possibly even more power. Neither Sanders nor Peter were much known for their conditioning so I'm too concerned about that either way.

Rewatching older fights of his, I actually think Sanders looked best when he was an obscurity in the prospect stages of his career. He was in shape and had the full benefit of his hand speed. By the time he fought Rahman, Wlad, etc, he was already 35-37 years old, only appearing here and there, and not maintaining his conditioning too well. Corrie was definitely something special early on, but never had the professional backing needed to make a career really take off.

At worst, it looks like the Ross the boss fight where Sanders was in good shape and fought smart and had a gastank. not many have seen that fight though.

The face first Peter is eating too many straight shots and probably doesn't get off the stool late in the fight. He'd take a vitali type pounding.

And, Lamon beats the guy as well. Funny how all the love for Sam Peter on the boxing forums sure did plummit after the Vitali fight.

I'm betting Peter on this one. Sanders best punch is a left straight, and any straight punchers is like a little to no threat to Peter's face. If Peter could whether Sanders storm, which I think he could do it easily... I'm willing to bet Peter to win by knockout.

 

Corrie Sanders beat Wlad and that was pretty much it. This shows you how overrated Wlad is and how poor his chin was. Sam Peter lost to Wlad but he did get him down 3 times. Corrie Sanders had a pretty fragile chin. Sam Peter was more durable in his prime. I pick Peter by early round KO.

 

Yeah, prime Peter was walking through one Wlad straight right after another. Peter still kept rumbling forward, and he had enough steam in that advance to put Wlad down repeatedly. Oh, and he absorbed a lot of punishment against Vitali as well.

Could Sanders put the Peter of the first Klitschko fight away? I dunno. You'd have to bet that he had the skill and handspeed to get Peter with punches he didn't see coming -- probably a lot of them. Additionally, even prime Sanders apparently wasn't known for his stamina. Peter, while he got worse later on, was dangerous through all 12 rounds of Wlad I.
