For all of his flaws, Charr has one of the best body attacks in the division today... If he could make it out of the first few rounds he could definitely trouble Joshua... Not sure I see that happening though, unless Charr is extremely cautious early and somehow improves his defense. He gets hit way too easily, and often for me to think he can take this one into deep waters.
Well he aint fighting for free and what he gets now is better and more consistent than the drug money he was recieving from other peoples misery.
Yes he does, that's called bad defense. What does that have to do with his body punching ability? :think
Yes Charr has a high guard, decent chin and power but he's awfully slow with little footwork and by covering up it will invite AJ to open up. I can see this being stopped in the second maybe the first round.
Not quite that early, I don't imagine, but yes, shelling up is going to bring a lot of pain down on him, with partially blocked or back/side of the head shots, all doing accumulative damage before Charr even starts getting hit clean with counter punches.
This fight has the potential to be very, very interesting. Depending on how well Charr protects himself as he pressures AJ (and he WILL try to pressure him), we might see what kind of stamina AJ has. I don't think Charr wins this fight because he doesn't have the footwork or defense -- AJ should be able to turn and batter him en route to a stoppage. I do wonder what happens if Charr makes it out of the first six rounds.
I have to wonder if the poll would be quite so heavily weighted in favor of a Joshua stoppage before the Povetkin loss. :think (when Charr's only ever stoppage was on cuts) Even the disbelievers usually said of Charr that when he stepped up in class he would lose on points to any serious top contender. I don't remember many picking him to get stopped in those h2h match-ups, despite everyone acknowledging his bad defense. He was seen as difficult to stop, but now that illusion has been shattered and perhaps replaced by a different illusion, the opposite way, that any decent heavy can do it, with the memory of Sasha pounding him out so fresh in mind...
Mind you, I voted Joshua by stoppage and stand by that - but I'd be unsurprised if he beat him on points instead. I was expecting the votes to be lopsided for Joshua but expected more even distribution between outcome types.
That's a very good point. Prior to the Povetkin loss, I don't think I'd be favoring AJ to actually stop him either. :think But the way things are currently, I get the impression that AJ has more power than Povetkin for some reason. It's hard to see how Charr is going to put in enough work vs AJ without taking some good shots in there. If AJ is as good as people think he is, he beats Manuel Charr up. Now I want to see this fight. I wonder if it happens any time soon.
If Charr isnt shot and comes to fight aj is in trouble. Jk. Aj will catch him with something big and going down going down.
bad defense? mhua! he has no defence. he absorbs shots with his head as he comes in, that's not boxing.
