Liston certainly has the edge as far as the jab goes
Not saying Ruddock is stronger than Liston but definitely has the power to put Liston on the canvas
But Ruddock was so damn chinny I dunno If he'd even make it into the later rounds

    Let's discuss

    I have Liston (T)KO Round 7

    All Sonny.

Lets go out on a limb here---Ruddock fights stupid. The best chance to win the fight is not what he does when he's in the ring. And posing and winding up and then throwing a grand total of 20 punches a round.

Sonny lands the jab and then that brutal left hook off the jab.

that and he throws it about 3x better. Ever go to a Ruddock fight live? Everyone in the arena see's the punch coming.

It doesn't flow. Watch Liston to see a left hook flow off a jab. Seamless. And the Liston hook is quicker and not as big of an arc either. Plus, he can dig it to the body.

when did ruddock ever throw that left to the body? It sure would have helped.

Nah, I 've only seen him on TV. The first time I saw him live on TV was the first Tyson fight back in 91' and you're right. It was practically the left hook/uppercut to the head or nothing. Even Tyson, who at the time seemed to have lose the ability to use head movement to evade punches could see the punches coming. I thought at the time that maybe Ruddock had suffered an injury to his right hand so sparingly had he used it.

I`ll take the guy who doesn`t leave himself totally open time after time. Liston used both hands and set up his power shots with one of the great jabs in heavyweight history.

Razor`s low volume and telegraphed one handed attack would not be enough to tame Liston. Ruddock was tough though. I think he could get to the later rounds before the referee intervened.
