Over the years, the tiny weight connoisseurs and Asian boxing aficionados have speculated as to Sung Kil Moons health.

Moon, known for being a face first brawler, with an extensive amateur career (mainly with no head guard) and a short pro career where he faced a murderers row of super flys and bantams. Several concussive powers lined up to tee off on his head, which was always open for business.

Some have even said he may have been suffering from brain damage before he retired. Given his style, it always seemed believable.

This video, may just change our perception. Whilst I cannot speak Korean, and therefore cannot tell the nuances of his speech pattern that may suggest pugilistic dementia, Moon seems pretty spry in this footage! On the pads, on the bag, and shadow boxing, he looks pretty much his old self! Walks fine too.

    Heart warming to see.

You will go white as a sheet watching some of his early amateur knockouts as the beginning of the video. One of the few iron chinned, gravel fisted punchers.

Check the video out (from 2010), as I say I may be wrong, but he looks in good health which is lovely to see.

Moon looks great in that video , glad to see that cause hes one of my all time favorites and like you i was convinced he wasnt doing well but he looks very good in that video and looks to have aged well.

Chang and Woo have both been inducted in the IBHOF the only one missing from the holy trinity of korean boxing is Moon, hopefully he gets inducted this year he's done more than enough to be there.

    Tremendous find mate. Cheers.

    I was well chuffed mate.

I think Lee Groves of The Ring has said he has voted for Moon this year. As arguably the greatest super fly of all time, he is a must.

It's always good to know that an ex boxer is alright.

Especially when the word on the street was that he was in a dire situation physically.

I seem to remember you finding some decent footage of him years back that suggested he was doing ok, Flea.An interview and some hillwalking.

A South Korean i used to know and traded Asian boxing tapes with back in the 90s told me when i asked how some of the 80s fighters had got on since retiring, that he was in a near-vegetative G-man'esque state due to his face first style and after all his sparring with heavier fighters throughout his am and pro career.

Now i've no idea if it was some lame attempt at a joke lost in translation or he'd picked up some dodgy info himself.Or just a scumbag troll, but that would have been out of character

    Good to see though, eh?

Mostly I should say. I could care less about how Tony Ayala jr is doing but it'd be difficult. At least tyson is entertaining.

I'll admit it freely; I initially thought this band was just a really talented Korean guy.

I think I communicated to you this misinformation, so I stand corrected, and I am happy I am wrong!

I had heard this story from someone who is very well-connected in the Korean boxing community, who later went on to promote Korean fighters. This informant had been spot on with most inside information regarding older Korean fighters, so I automatically assumed he had good information. But perhaps he exaggerated - or was outright misiniformed.
