Good stuff. Thankfully the opener to Pacquaio card, Vargas vs Demarco is taking away the bad taste of that PPV.

it was actually hard to call it a fight wasnt it? .. Clev threw zero for 10 rounds then sat on ropes till end and big flabby Bellew was so slow he couldnt even hit a standing still target... just seen post fight interviews and Clev seemed fairly happy overall !said the flicking jab was working but he got tired
With all the trash talk beforehand it just highlighted further that it was a domestic-euro level fight at best very poor fight.
That main event defo wasnt PPV worthy & thats exactly what ended up happening. hopefully when it comes to future PPV fights, people will be able to distinguish the Sky hype from reality & realise that when the fight on paper looks like a turd, it most likely will be a turd.
Matchroom have contracts with Sky that need honouring and vice versa. It will be a struggle to sell a PPV show again as the public will have lost confidence in British PPV events (remember how long it took Sky to commit to PPV again after Haye-Harrison?) but I'm sure Eddie can build a rivalry again. Ironically, he may need George Groves - who isn't even his fighter - to do that against James DeGale.
Clev didn't look too bothered or hungry either way. He was there to stick that jab out and as if by magic sit on the ropes taking punches for the last four rounds, like he didn't want to win. I almost think he wanted a third fight and threw it away on purpose. He barely threw a right hand, I don't care if he says he gassed, he didn't look bothered, it's like he knew he could handle Bellew's power and wanted to pick up another meaty pay cheque for a third fight.
Barney Francis must be delighted with it. Perhaps he'll call Adam Smith in and give him a good slapping, although Adam seems the sort of guy who would enjoy that.
When you rely on the main event and it fails you then you have NOTHING to fall back on. You reap what you sow.
