The comparison to Cleveland Williams is hilarious, the guy was complete rubbish who was stopped whenever he faced anyone in the top 40. The more i think about it the more i can't see an Ali win, great for his time but doesn't have the power to worry Wlad and is open in defense himself. Plus he loves a good hug and he would just be manhandled. Wlad would have more problems with Foreman than Ali, styles make fights.

    Wlad walks through Ali.

Don't understand how people can think otherwise.

:lol:It was a joke. Ali's in ring abilities have become so overrated, he's become akin to a Chuck Norris joke. Ali nostalgists always use that fight as a reference as to how he would easily beat *insert boxer name*, forgetting the fact the guy wasn't good and that most capable HWs would have done the same to Williams.

ali got edged out by frazier atg, and Norton split decision.

wlad got destroyed by retiree, nobody and no one. how in hell can he manage to beat ali?

ali destroys wlad pretty easily, its not even funny to start a thread on it.

Go and read back what you've typed.

The word irony doesn't even scratch the surface.

    Great post!

But the onus is on him, not me.

We all know that boxing doesn't progress like other sports, and that fighters don't become better every decade.

Imagine Liston, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Norton and Holmes etc from the 60's and 70's, against Wlad, Pulev, Pov, Fury, Wilder, Haye, Chisora, Stiverne etc.

    They'd run riot.

Now of course, not all of the fighters from the past are superior to today's guys.

There's fighters today across all of the weight divisions, that IMHO, would beat certain guys of the past.

But my argument is, boxing hasn't progressed and the fighters haven't become better as a whole.

It seems that every week, we have people comparing boxing with athletics etc, trying to explain how today's guys are better.

    I don't know where it's started, but it's bizarre.

Because if they were right, it would mean that today's fighters are the best fighters of all time.

Now that's clearly not the case.

All we get as an argument from these guys, are that we're nostalgia lovers and we wear rose tinted glasses.

They can't comprehend how a fighter shown in black and white footage from years ago, could compete with a guy today, due to the overall advancements in society.

    They need educating.

Now again, certain HW's of today, could beat HW's of the past.

But likewise, certain HW's of the past, could beat the HW's of today.

Wlad's a great fighter, but he's competing in the weakest HW era in 40 years.

    He's no real competition.

That's not his fault of course, but his statistics don't mean that he'd have been able to have beaten Ali and the like with ease.

    Ali was not small.

We're talking a few inches in height and reach for Wlad, which would have been nothing significant.

How would he have coped with Ali's movement?

Ali and Haye are the same size, and Haye's upper body movement was enough to keep Wlad from landing anything powerful.

Being bigger and heavier is not always an advantage.

It depends who you're matched up with.

Wlad's physical advantages mean that he'd have been significantly slower than Ali.

Haye's fast, but nowhere near as fast as Ali, and you can't even compare their footwork.

I want to know how Wlad could have set himself to have landed something significant.

    Wtf?

    What a ******ed post.

Was Ali only 5'8 or something?

So a peak Ali couldn't have made an impact today, because today's guys are bigger?

Are we just going to completely ignore his footwork, reflexes, skills and hand speed etc, just because he's a bit smaller?

Size alone can't overcome speed and skill. Not when you're talking in fractions.

Name all of the HW's of today who would have beaten a peak Ali.

    Run away? :patsch

    Nobody has mentioned running away.

    It's called footwork.

    Go and educate yourself.

Ali's movement would have caused Wlad major problems.

You don't agree that today's HW era is weak?

Just look at the top ten.

It could be something to do with the fact, that Ali at his peak, had had superior footwork, hand speed, reflexes, and had more variation.

Wlad wouldn't just walk through him.

    How ignorant.

Why didn't he walk through Haye, who was the same size as Ali, but who wasn't as good or as fast?

He had him trapped on the ropes, and couldn't land anything significant.

So how the hell could he have walked through Ali, who would have been stood in the centre of the ring, up on his toes, dancing, and laying traps with his feints etc?

    Please explain.

Explain how Wlad could have set himself to have landed anything significant?
