I agree that Pacquiao is a different fighter from his pre Marquez knockout.

He is more of a thinking on his feet fighter now.

He doesn't over commit mad rushes, going broke for broke all out that much anymore.

Only when he senses a clear opening of opportunity does he actually apply said offensive pressure. I.E during last night's fight against Algieri in the 9th round where Manny sensed the moment and threw that wicked straight left right on the sweet spot (ouch!!)

In regards to Pac vs Mayweather.. this is my opinion (just my opinion!!!)

I think Mayweather is good with dealing with orthodox and even southpaw fighters who fight conventionally with him.

Box and throw straight 1-2 combos with Mayweather and the Money Man will utilize his effective defensive skills against you very very well.

However if you start fighting ackwardly, throwing unpredictable punches from unseen and unexpected angles... you stand a chance of flustering and frustrating Floyd.

This was clearly demonstrated in the Maidana fights (especially the first one) where El Chino just kept the pressure on and took away space from Floyd and backed him up into the ropes with those wild looping punches.

Only problem with this is Maidana eventually wore down and ran out of gas as the later rounds rolled on.

Pacquiao against Floyd will be a totally different thing though.
Pacquiao is A LOT faster than Maidana and throws punches from even more ackward and weird angles.

That and Manny probably will not gas out as easily as Maidana.

It will be 12 full rounds of non stop south paw volume pressure.

Say Floyd can defend and evade 3-4 punches from Manny.. Manny will then come up with another 4-5 quick and hard punches again from strange angles. Sooner or later Manny will nail Mayweather with 1 or 2 solid punches either downstairs or upstairs.

On top of that, Manny Pacquiao often utilizes in and out footwork. He will throw a flurry of volume punches at you, and then exit via a weird angle.

As long as Manny learned from not over committing and doing wild forward lunges after throwing his feint right jab (this is how Marquez knocked him out with that powerful overhand right of his in the sixth) He should do exceptionally fine against Mayweather.

I say Manny has the potential to do 2-3 knockdowns on Floyd and possibly win the fight... Can and will it happen is the issue though.

This fight needs to happen soon or it will never happen.

Mayweather fans always say Pacquiao stopped KOing people when Mayweather asked him to take extra tests.

Ordinary person's logic is he is fighting bigger guys who rarely get stopped.

But let's reverse this logic, why did Mayweather stop getting KO's people when he started on OSDT?

His first fight on OSDT was with Marquez I believe.

Before that fight he had stopped 4 of his last 8 opponents, after the fight he has only stopped 1 of his last 8 opponents, a controversial stoppage aganst Ortiz.

I do look forward to your answers.

what about his vicious wars with Maidana did you already forget about that

  7. Dumbass, Mayweather' last KO before OSDT, exlcuding Hatton was Mitchell back in 05.

Difference is Pacquiao always goes for the KO. Mayweather never goes for the KO and boxes. If you're going for the KO all the time, most likely you're going to have a higher knockout ratio. But even then, Poochaio ain't getting any KO's.

Your own argument is used against you, log off *******.

    Brilliant post.

Infact it's one of the best and most intelligently written we've had on this forum in 2014.

Jmm only had a puncher's chance?:patsch Yes, I remember Manny got the upperhand on Marquez and giving him a beating in the 5th and going into the 6th, I give Manny his props, but stop acting like you all have amnesia and forget about that other knockdown like it didn't happen. What's the next excuse, did Manny trip there too? A buzzsaw like Manny with the speed, footwork, skillset that he supposedly has isn't supposed to get clocked yet he got clocked TWICE by slow ass Marquez. No peds is going to give you the amount of skills and timing it requires a slower fighter to do that on a faster one like that.

No my argument is Mayweather had stopped 4 of his last 8 opponents before going on OSDT, since going on it he has only stopped 1 out of 8 and that was controversial.

    Maybe.

Apparently Pacquiao is still refusing the testing Mayweather is demanding because he is on drugs yet has looked weaker in his last few fights because he has come off drugs.

Floyd has never done OSDT in his career.
The guys coming the closest to it are the ones doing "all year random", but even that isn't OSDT.
