Tyson in the 70's.

    Tyson is facing Ali, Norton, Foreman, Frazier, Shavers, Young, and Lyle.
    1. Ali wins this fight by TKO in the late rounds (13 or 14). Just way to much speed and talent for Tyson to handle - not to mention the mental game that Ali would've played on him before and during the fight.

    2. Tyson by KO in round 2. Ken Norton was never very good at dealing with power punchers and would end up stretched out on the canvas the same way he was against Foreman and ****ey.

    3. George Foreman by KO in round 4. Tyson was made for Foreman. The only reason that Tyson would last longer than Frazier did is because he was faster and hit harder.

    4. Frazier by late round KO (probably in the 14th). Tyson would come out early throwing bombs and Frazier would go down a couple of times but he wouldn't give up. By round 9 Tyson has begun to run out of steam and has lost alot of zip on his punches. Frazier takes over and continues the body work and left hooks to the head that he would've started with in round 1 and eventually grinds Tyson down to a nub.

    5. Tyson blasts Earnie outta there by round 8. He would have to survive a few scary moments as Earnie would likely bounce a few of his own patented bombs off of Tyson's dome. Earnie, though, had trouble finishing and if you didn't follow up on Tyson and really finish him he'd keep coming. This is exactly what would happen and Earnie would run out of steam and be KO'd by round 8.

    6. Tyson by KO in round 11. Not only did Tyson hit fast and hard but his punch volume and fight pace were fairly high for a heavyweight. This would be what it would take to beat Jimmy Young. Tyson would keep on him and keep forcing him back into the ropes where he would savagely attack Jimmy's body until he had nothing left. At this point Tyson would start blasting away at Jimmy's head and soon after that it would be all over.

    7. Ron Lyle by KO in 6. It would be a back and forth see-saw battle with both guys hitting the cavas early but Ron Lyle never knew how to quit.....and Tyson did. It would all but too overwhelming for Tyson. Tyson would drop Ron early a couple of times but he would keep getting up and would fire back at Tyson even harder. By round 3 Tyson would be dropped for the first time and that would be the beginning of the end. Lyle could hit as hard as Foreman and was used to taking alot of punishment. Tyson just wouldn't have the will or the courage to survive what Ron Lyle brought to the ring.

    Truthfully, I can't see anyone from the 70s standing up to a 87-89 Tyson apart from a early 70s Ali and a late 70s Larry Holmes.

    Sure I can if he managed to land often enough and hard enough .... but I just can't see him doing it. Tyson's handspeed would just be too fast and too accurate and with Foreman throwing those swinging wide hooks, he's just too wide open to be hit. Tyson would find it harder NOT to hit him than to hit him. Ali didn't nickname Foreman the Mummy for nothing.:yep.

    Foreman very tough fight for Mike i think 88 Tyson would beat ALI and Ko Joe frazier early

    Frazier would not survyve the onslaught.
    Foreman if it is true style & heart make up for spee, I think so.
    Shavers may not last 8.
    Lyle would lose. He came close with Foreman when George was rusty . & a round he was torching Lyle in was ended 1 minute early

    Tyson has become underrated by some over the last 10 years or so. Shavers and Norton both get blitzed within 2 rounds by the Tyson of '86-89. Lyle was a tough enough man to stand up to the bombardment for a lot longer, but not to the point that the result is anything other than a comprehensive Tyson win.

    Lennox and Holyfield would have been A LOT more competitive than Tyson in the 70's, Tyson lacked Lennox size and Holyfields heart and endurance..

    You know for a guy who wasn't even the best of his own generation, Tyson sure gets a lot of threads:huh




    Both Lennox and Holy whipped his ass and stopped him rather easily:lol:, yet it's always Tyson this, Tyson that, sheez give it a rest...

    No way he loses to Lyle. Even 90's Tyson would blitz that overrated heavy.

    If he fights them in the order the OP has posted, he possibly beats Norton, but after being beaten up and stopped by Ali, Foreman, and Frazier, his mental fragility comes to the fore and he loses to all the rest of them, even though he was on paper the better fighter.

    All you have to look at is the garbage they fed him when he did lose to understand what I'm getting at.

    Because at his best he was the most talented of all of them. Lewis is too chinny to be taken seriously in the 70's, his size won't make that much difference. Holyfield definately had the chin and heart, the only thing I could hold against him is the lack of knock out power.

    I love Kovalev. He has impressed me in most of his recent fights. But, this is a completely asinine ****ysis by John Galt. Kovalev would most likely be destroyed by all of the above. To say Kovalev might outbox a young Foreman after a few rounds is just plain silly. No way in holy hell he ever makes it a few rounds against Big George. Please go back to the General Forum where you belong.

    At his best prime, he was waxed by a 42-1 dog in Douglas:nut, he was the most overrated heavyweight in the history in boxing get real..
    To say Tyson was more talented than Holyfield, Lewis is a crock of BS, if that's the case then why did he get his a$$ kicked by both of them??

    And i don't give a sh!t if he was past his "best" or not, he was a lot younger than both of them...
