Most overrated individual wins when they happened of the last 5 years?

Since 2009, what do you believe are the most overrated wins and the time they happened and why? Here are mine in no particular order:

Shane Mosley TKO9 Antonio Magarito

Mosley beat Magarito, and shot from being not in the pound for pound top 20, to being number 3 on the list, despite losing to Cotto and struggling to a last ditch knockout over has-been Mayorga in his previous 2. While Magarito had beaten Cotto before this fight the events before the fight raised big red flags over this victory. In his next fight he was seen as a threat to Mayweather when he really wasn't, and has 1-3-1 since.

Antonio DeMarco TKO11 Jorge Linares

DeMarco struck lucky in this fight, as he was being dominated all the way through before Linares paper face fell apart. Linares was not only unproven at Lightweight having only one so-so win over gatekeeper Rocky Juarez, he was unproven full stop, and more of a prospect. The only thing he had proved is that he had a glass chin. For some reason, this lucky win was enough to catapult DeMarco from round about 6 or so Lightweight, to number 1.

Adrien Broner TKO8 Antonio DeMarco

A by-product of the above, Because in Broner's 1st fight at Lightweight he stopped a slow taylor-made Mexican plodder with little boxing ability, that one win was enough to catapult him in straight at number 1 in the rankings- despite at the time, Miguel Vazquez, Ricky Burns and Richar Abril had achieved more- and laughably into The Ring top 5 pound for pound fighters.

Victor Ortiz UD12 Andre Berto

A close fight with Berto, who's best win was a robbery over Luis Collozo, was enough to land Ortiz the Mayweather sweepstakes, even though it was his recent form included quitting against Maidana and drawing with Lamont Peterson at 140. Ortiz hasn't won a fight since with laughable loses and Berto hasn't won a significant one. It was a battle of two evenly matched club fighters.

Shawn Porter TKO4 Paulie Malignaggi

This fight seemed to give people the impression that Porter is some sort of KO artist that he managed to stop, the usually durable Paulie. The fact is it was Porter's first knock out in over 2 years and has a KO rate of little more than 50%. The fact is Paulie's the poster boy for feather fist and that style is taylor made for a relentless attack like Porter has. So impressed American boxing writers was with this, that The Ring's 21 experts all 21 picked Porter to beat Brook, who completely schooled Porter as he barely landed a clean punch all night. That outcome should've been obvious to anyone but it appeared that Porter's fight with Paulie was the only consideration for most.

Honorable mention- Maidana UD12 Broner.

Broner is garbage, had one fight at welter, a dodgy SD over shot Paulie. The only thing suprsing about the fight was just how bad Broner's mandible was, when matched with someone his own size, as he failed to stay on his feet against a fighter that hadn't put other glass chinned disgraces down and that Maidana wasn't robbed as other fighters- De Leon and Quintero- had clear landslide wins over the coddled hype job, but he was saved by corrupt judging. Maidana landed the Mayweather sweepstakes ahead of former conquer Amir Khan, despite being not far removed from a shut out against domestic level Devon Alexander (who by rights, should've been 0-4 going into that fight).

 

Victor Ortiz UD12 Andre Berto for me both the winner and loser have proven to be bums of the highest order

Peterson vs Khan - I felt like it showed Peterson to be a durable fighter, then he goes and gets destroyed by Lucas

Pretty good examples. I want to point out Rigo-Donaire but at the same time I picked Donaire by KO and lost all my v-cash back in the day.

 

too much hindsight in this thread. None of these guys got plucked out of the unemployment line. They were all on the way up at one point.

Calzaghe-Hopkins. A win over Mitchell and Taylor's blown up leftovers pales in comparison to what could have been if Joe had instead defeated the lineal champion and best in Europe (and thus the world) Erdei.

 

Perhaps the real overrated win, was Donaire - Montiel? :huh

 

Not really. Montiel and Donaire were on the top of their game that time. Montiel has a string of ko wins before that.

 

Joe, Hopkins, in hindsight is massively underrated. How many people claimed Hopkins was shot and That's the only reason Joe won, only for Hopkins to prove he was still prime. Anyway, that happened after 2009, so shouldn't be listed.
