According to Emanuel Steward in 2011: This content is protected "Tyson Fury has the ability and in my expectations - the next superstar dominant heavyweight and in much along the lines of Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko. With the way that he's progressing now, I believe that he can be the complete package for the heavyweight division. His talent, a good looking guy and a very colorful personality. I think he can be a tremendous shot in the arm for the heavyweight division in the future," Steward told the Ringside Boxing Show. What is it that Steward saw in Fury? Of course he is very tall and has a big reach advantage against nearly everyone but what else is there? He doesn't have much punching power, he is physically uncoordinated, has a mediocre chin, is rather slow, has a mediocre balance and looks clumsy. How can he be mentioned in the same breath as two of the greatest heavyweights ever? Would be nice to get some opinions especially from people who know a lot about the technical aspects of boxing... I agree with Emamuel Stewart on this, Fury may look clumsy but he is actually a master at playing angles. I may not like his personality, but there's no denying his skills. Skillwise Fury is one of the most versatile fighters in the division, he can win a fight flicking a jab at range, or fight rough and tough on the inside and even slip punches when he wants to. He's ambidextrous and can beat world class opponents while fighting from the opposite stance, when was the last time you ever saw a heavyweight do that? He is also 6'9 and has a monster 85 inch reach, he's damn near as big as Nikolai Valuev, but is light years ahead of Valuev in terms of skill. He also has decent power and has won 8 of his last 10 fights by KO. He has some of the fastest hands in the heavyweight division and can throw amazing combinations that no other heavyweight on the planet can. Fury's only problem is his tendency to clown around in fights, but if he can fix that, I truly think this guy is gonna take over after Wlad is gone.
Thats what I have been trying to all these idiot haters for years. Some of these people are starting to realize now wow this guy is really good. A 6'9 Heavyweight with fast hands like a Super Middleweight, has the ability to dominate and control a fight from the outside with his jab then if decides has a good good inside fight game. Chisora landed like 4 punches, Fury can have a really good defense when he decides to box on the outside.
We have 6 people that know more about Heavyweight boxing than Emmanuel Steward. Steward trained and turned both Lewis and Klitschko into great Heavyweight champions. Please give yourselves a round of a applause
Well, Fury definitely has some really good qualities - handspeed, punch variety, size - but the drawbacks are there for all to see: clumsy feet, often out of condition, slightly crazy, uncoordinated from the chest down.
Fury was moving his head and dodging punches vs Chisora. They said the same thing about Vitali Klitschko being uncoordinated. But in the end even Lewis said his awkwardness made Vitali hard to hit and that it was an asset.
Fury is getting massively overrated now it seems... but he has indeed improved leaps and bounds. I still think hes a high gatekeeper / contender level fighter. True champion level fighters will beat him. I think jennings would have a good shot at beating him.
He will be a champion but not in the same class as Lewis and Wladdy. I have always like Fury and look forward to him winning a strap, though.
Yes, because: 1) Both Lewis and Wladimir are overrated _______________ 2) Fury is still young, and still has the potential to improve _____ 3) He also has the obvious potential due to his size _________ 4) Compared to these times and his age, his record is above average. _ _ _ When Wladimir was his age, he already had 1 bad loss. _____ 5) Fury can even get stopped, and still have a better resume than Wladimir. _______________ 6) The rest of his contemporaries at his weight are either worse, severely undersized compared to him, and those that will come in the future, even those whom will have both the size and crude potential to deal with him, will be far less experienced by the time that they will fight him.
Op did you say he's good looking? Have you seen him in the ring?? He looks like an oaf , valuev had better phisyque than him.
Are you delusional or just brit-t-ard? Fury is slow , fat featherfisted bum. 25yo Wlad was a world champ , not uncoordinated domestic level can crusher.
