it seems as if manny pacquiao in almost every fight has the same fight plan, be aggressive and be a high volume puncher, as with floyd mayweather it seems as if in every fight he had a different approach to his opponent, and would adjust to his opponent and use a different main weapon weather it was the check hook straight right or jab to the body. pacquiao uses the same weapons in each and every one of his fights. for example mayweather in the miguel cotto fight used the right hook as a main power punch, mayweather in the shane mosley fight used the counter straight right as the main power punch, floyd in the de la hoya fight used the left jab more frequently and moved around the ring more, while floyd in the zab judah fight was moving forward hitting to the body and using the straight right and fighting in the pocket. Does this prove that pacquiao is one dimensional and that floyd is just a better all around boxer?
HAHAHAH one dimeninal is someone like ruslan and maidana you dont become fighter of the decade and win the stuff pac has won being just one dimensional
No. Pacquiao adjusts to his opposition. He used a combination of counterpunching and volume, as well as accurate, hard shots to beat Algieri because Algieri's strategy was to run. What did you expect Pacquaio to do? Let Algieri come to him and manage to win a close decision because Pacquaio refused to go out and win the fight? You do realize that Pacquaio is an undersized southpaw, don't you? When Oscar and Margarito tried to use an aggressive approach, Pacquaio' fought amazingly off the back foot and countered the hell out of them. He did the same thing against Cotto. Pacquaio is clearly a multi-dimensional fighter. You must not watch very much boxing or you don't understand what you're watching.
sugar coat it all you want, hes one dimensional, same thing every fight. rush forward face first, throw some flurries, hop backwards and forwards and repeat.
Other than Marquez, Pacquiao has pretty much dominated every single fighter he's faced since the 1st Morales fight in 2005. He has fought opponents and champions from Super Feather up to Light Middle along the way. So whatever dimension or dimensions he is fighting in, it's working.
I just see Pacquiao as someone who's mostly relied on his athleticism to succeed. He makes amateur mistakes, like dropping his hands.
He is predictable at times (as is every fighter) but far from one dimensional. And on that note, "one dimensional" is extremely overrated in critiquing a fighter. I don't know where it came from and I barely even understand what it means but I've been hearing it more recently these past few years and it's nonsense. Ali was "one dimensional", as was Marciano, Frazier, LaMotta, and most other greats.
Yes that is true, but Im speaking in terms of fight plan, strategy, pacquiao has speed and power in both hands, has great footwork and decent defense. In several fights he somewhat adjusted but that was with footwork, pacquiao uses the same approach in terms of volume punching in every fight, yes in some fights in the past he threw combinations while on the back foot and some fights he when in and out with combinations, his footwork is what makes his speed and power even more dangerous. I myself think pacquiao has good boxing skills and I never said he was actually one dimensional, i was simply asking. Pacquiao is a a great all around boxer but he outboxed two guys in margarito and de la hoya who were either old and shot(DLH) OR one dimensional (margarito) he had to box there ears off, why wouldnt he? pacquiao has speed and power in both hands with great footwork. I myself dont think hes necessarily one dimensional BUT i think mayweather has more dimensions into his game.
