It is an interesting fight, would be nice to see as Carlos would handle a mw with this reach and Height with the speed OF nunn

Nunn causes him problems for a few rounds but Monzon would find his range and timing and chop Nunn down sometime before 15.

both are tall rangy boxers but Mike a little quicker, with the more potent offense,,, stepping to his right outside of his jab. Plus Monzon had no real left hook that could take Mike out (like James Toney)

If Mike holds up for 15, he will take the lead. IMO, Mike holds on the few last rounds and nullify any offensive outburts as a desperate Monzon tries for a last ditch KO effort

Nunn at his best can take this, if he isn't Monzon can come from behind to win.

Monzon was the tougher o the 2-- with the better chin, so i believe he stops Nunn late, but it wouldn't be a walk in the park.

I don't like anyone holding their chin way up in the air against a Carlos Monzon. That chin has to be tucked and not at 12"oclock sticking way way up there. That posture is going to eat a right hand from this guy.

I think second to ends up in a heap after a right hand and suffers a brutal ko like the first Benvenuti fight.

Nunn looked almost unbeatable at his best against Tate, Toney, Roldan and Kalambay. He'd bamboozle Monzon in the early stages, but I feel Monzon would master the distance and timing at some point and start scoring consistently, picking up rounds 10-15 to edge it.

The Tall Languid Nunn did have a Height and Reach Luxury against most of his opposition, and his Lean-Back Even on the Ropes was Defence enough in most cases, But Not in this case, Carlos also has the Lean Back Defence, so Maybe a bit of a Chess Match early, Especially by dint of Carlos's Perpencity to wind-up to 5th gear Slowly, but when he gets there, usually after the tenth... Then those long right Hands come into Play, Just when you are expecting your opponent to be commenserably
Fatigued, Carlos Starts stepping on the Gas... And Reedy Nunn would not fare to well i suspect, He went "Rag Doll" When Toney finally caught him... And Carlos's Right Hands would have him go "Rag Doll and Dolls House.." I Suspect. Due to Carlos's Luxuriating in the 15 rounds distance, he would close the show circa 11th

Monzon wasn't any sort of puncher/destroyer, as much as others want him to be. Benvenuti was pretty much shot by that stage in his career.

Monzon puts Nunn's lights out by the 11th round.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about. Benvenuti , in his most recent fights had discovered that he had power..he was on a resurgence in avenging his defeat to Tom Bethea, his draw with Doyle Baird...he was simply overwhelmed vs Monzon. Monzon had power, especially in that right hand of his until arthritis became too much for him and he had to modify his style and rely on a more patient, accumulative meting out of punishment.

Nah, Benvenuti wasn't consistent enough for Monzon's KO of him to be considered a major scalp or proof of his devastating power or anything.

But Monzon was a good, hard puncher who could take out most except the truly iron chinned fighters IMO.

 at the idea of Benvenuti suddenly discovering he had power over a decade into his career and after dozens and dozens of pro fights.

Not really so funny...Nino wasn't exactly a ko artist, and his style precluded an attention to speed and boxing rather than ko punching, but he had power ...he ko'ed Sandro Mazzinghi quite impressively earlier in his career and was famous for starching Luis Rodriguez with one shot. This ko was a kind of latter day revelation for him, and he reversed two nontitle losses both with ko's prior to running into Monzon. he decked Griffith twice in their three bout series as well. If Luis was still alive today bet he'd tell you that Nino could pop a bit.
