Tua vs Tyson.

Tyson wins this and easy.

Tua wont even recover from Tysons initial onslaught in the first couple of rounds, and no way will Tyson let him off the hook.

Tua poses no stylistic challenge to Tyson
Tua has no physical advantages over Tyson.
Tua is 5"10 with a 70" reach.
Tyson is 5"10 with a 71" reach and out of the two, Tyson utilised his size (or lack of) much better.

Tyson outslugged and broke down bigger guys like Bruno and Ruddock and had punchers like Smith, holding on for dear life. When Tua stepped up against someone of a similar calibre in Ike, he lost.

Tuas chin is overrated, yes he was never knocked down, but thats because he was so one dimensional most guys realised it was so much easier to outbox him.

Its like people who like to brag that all of Foremans opponents in his second career 'ran' from him, no they didnt run from him, they just werent stupid to stand in front of a fat old man and realised outboxing him would be much easier

Tyson was a totally different cup of tea.

Tua took one right hand from Lewis and was happy to see the final bell (and walk into the ringpost like an idiot). Tyson stood his ground with Lewis.

Tua in all of his losses, was just a plodder, Tyson fought aggressively in all of his losses and tried until the end. A fighter who fights more aggresively is more prone to being stopped.

Tyson has knockouts over fighters who had never been stopped, and he knocked out fighters much quicker than other mutual opponents like Foreman, Lewis, Holmes, Holyfield and Bowe.

Tuas record is littered with bums, has beens and never weres and wins over Ruiz and Moorer (who was past his prime and never had a good chin to begin with).

Comparing Tua to Tyson is like comparing Wilder to Foreman, or Chisora to Frazier.

And lastly, Tua has never been hit by anything close to what Tyson will unload on him.

 

I would have to strongly favour Tyson here.

Tyson was a great fighter, while Tua was a great talent with some critical components missing.

 

This is not about greatness but about a stylistic match up ... I'd pick the prime Tyson to beat the prime Tua by decision but there is no doubt that Tua, which his iron chin, strength and power could seriously test him .. if Mike was not in top shape and Tua was he could have upset Mike..

 

no i agree, its not about greatness. But with the amount Tyson will be dishing out, will Tuas chin stand up to it?

Although Tyson has been stopped, i feel his chin was more tested and he showed he could give and take vs Ruddock.

But if this was both men at their peaks, Tyson was too defensively sound for Tua

 

Has Tua ever dealt with the combinations that Tyson would pulverize him with?

 

If they had fought when it could have happened IRL(sometime between 1999-2003) it would have been very interesting.

 

Tyson would have given up if the fight took place then. But from 1985-91 & even 95-97,he has to be favored

 

I call this Tuardism, it's best to just ignore these Tua fantasy threads and just let them pass.

No way in hell does Tyson get Tua out early, it would become a battle of landing bombs and there's only one winner and it sure ain't Tyson, let's not forget he was knocked the **** out by feather fisted Douglas. Like the OP said, Tyson had nowhere near the late power and strength of Tua and would either be knocked out or he'd look for a way out and get disqualified.

 

If we're talking prime Tyson then to me there's only one winner.
Tyson was simply a class above Tua who is extremely overated on here.
