Do. But not do to. Grant was all over the place.

You just don't seem to be seeing the same significance to Lewis's mauling inside game as I do.

That's because it wasn't of any importance at all versus Vitali, the fighter who most approaches Wladimir's size and class who met Lewis. It was a non-factor, aside perhaps from disrupting the cut and one good punch. There is literally no evidence that they would "fight" at this type of range at all. In fact given that Lewis generally tried to avoid it, and that Wlad always tries to avoid it, the chance that infighting will be of significance is minimal in the extreme.

I see this fight being fought at range as well.

The highlight reel is merely a collection of the best moments and don't tell the tell of the fight.
At one point they cleared the entire ring while stuck to each other.

Vitali was comfortable at this no mans land , but this place is where Wlad goes in for the clinch , he doesn't want to be in that proximity to his opponents fire power.

Wlad and Lewis will meet on the inside. That is 100% inevitable . Wlad won't follow through with shots like Vitali did. He'll shoot and want to tie up.
When Lewis jabs his way in , Wlad will want to clinch. An inside scuffle is unavoidable.
Lewis knew how to beat Wlad. His plan was so full proof , he gave to to Sanders and he must have been shocked by how easily it worked for him.

I disagree. I don't think that happened at all. I think that Lewis set out to box, like you say, but he couldn't. Literally couldn't do it. Their relative size and attributes (Accuracy power speed) wouldn't allow it. They were both as available for punches as their punch-specific defensive work allowed. It was a brawl in round one, and Lewis was a part of it.

I think that brawls are inevitable when this type of size, and class, are aligned.

Absolutely not. The below video 3:19:

That is the cut being opened. It is born of a left-right combination almost identical to the one Lewis staved Rahman with. The only reason it isn't defined as long range in the traditional way, is that Lewis isn't stepping in with a left in the traditional way, but rather rushing Vitali. This is because their relative sizes make Lewis's traditional approach extremely difficult, despite Vitali's shorter reach.

Certainly nothing to do with infighting.

Lewis looked out of shape and consequently faded against Vitali imo.

I think that fight plays out differently if it happens a few years earlier...or many years earlier against the younger Lewis.Or maybe it doesn't and Lewis just doesn't look so pathetically gassed early on.

Still worth mentioning that i don't think the Lewis that fought Vitali is an overly accurate depiction of him at his best.

No, that goes without saying. Only the most twisted Vitali apologist would try to claim prime for Lewis in his last fight.

How can a brawl take place from a distance? If they're brawling then they are pretty close to each other, wouldn't you say?

I think Lewis either tries to be extremely aggressive at the outset and attacks Wlad, and if that doesn't work for whatever reason,
it might become a boxing match.

Lewis would be okay with this if he's winning, but if he's not, Manny (assuming he's in this corner) would direct him to do the same thing he told him to do against Vitali, which was turn it into a dog fight.

Lewis isn't simply going to allow himself to get outboxed and loose on points. He might loose, but he'll definitely try different tactics if he's not winning. And if he was loosing the fight, I'm sure he'd have it in the back of his mind that if he could just land one good shot to Wlad's head it could turn the fight in his favour.

I don't understand the boards difficulty with this. If you watch the Vitali-Lewis fight, which i've posted twice in this thread, it should be obvious.

Furthermore, I've stressed at least twice, and once in precise language that it would not be a fencing match.

The difficulty is reconciling this comment with your other comment that they wouldn't be fighting in the inside. If you're suggesting they would fight at the same distance Vitali and Lewis fought, that would certainly favour Lewis. But Lewis certainly wouldn't be walking through Wlad's punches like he did against Vitali.
