Mayweather absolutely gets owned by SRL... As for Floyd,s `offense`,potshotting based on the level of opponent. He,d be to afraid to open up with any offense against the likes of SRL. Again, given the `level` of fighters Floyd has faced, his skills look exceptional. Against the likes of Duran,Hearns,Palomino etc,I assure you he would not look supreme. Can,t you just close your eyes and see the fear in Floyd,s face as he sees the piston like jab of Hearns screaming towards his face ! PBF never fought anywhere near the high caliber of fighters that Benitez did,FACT !!

Floyd didn't lose fights and have a three year prime.

What does a 3 year prime have anything to do with it, since we're talking a fight between them in there respective peaks. This line of reasoning is simply moronic.

The question isn't who had the better career, rather it's who you win prime for prime.

i'm envisioning a fight fought at quite a slow pace with both fighters spending time on the front foot.

i think floyds handspeed means he will land right hands at a decent % and he should win some of the later rounds based on fitness(unless benitez hurts him then)

    i'll take benitez 9-6/8-7.

Benitez was a natural welter at his peak and in his twenties facing ATG's. Mayweather began his career much lower, didn't ascend to welter until in his thirties, and who's best opponents at that weight had similar beginnings and career tracks. Floyd is the better fighter by far, but the circumstances may favor Benitez.

I agree 100%. Benitez by comfortable decision. (Maybe 9-6 or 10-5 over 15)

Floyd's all round better than Benitez, as for speed Benitez is nowhere near. Benitez's defense wasn't as impregnable as it's made out to be either. His radar is great but his parrying and inside is a weakness, see

Most people don't use Tokyo Douglas as any indication of what a prime Tyson would do in a mythical match up, but to each his own.

Pleas tell me your joking ?? Have you ever really looked at Benitez`s resume and see the REAL fighters he fought ? He beat Cervantes ( a great fighter) for his first title at 17 !! Floyd,s resume is laughable compared to El Radar,s ...

PP, I always like your posts. But,I think if you put PBF up against some of the fighters that Benitez took on, ... Floyd loses his `protected` 0

Benitez went the distance with Hearns, no way to I envision Mayweather doing that even in his dreams, never mind if he actually stepped into the ring with him and it was SRL who said that Benitez was one of the most elusive fighters he ever fought and he found him extremely hard to hit.

That's Bruce Curry who no I don't think Floyd struggles with. Against Hearns and Leonard, sure and even then maybe he gets a bit too much credit for losing to them. I thought they both won it going away. No I wouldn't pick Mayweather to beat either.

Mayweather wouldn't beat Hearns but plenty of fighters went the distance with Hearns. If Mayweather went into a shell Hearns wouldn't stop him.

And yes ofcourse Benitez is hard to hit at certain ranges with his radar but he's also got defensive frailties at times. I thought Leonard won much wider than most (I know it was a stoppage but had Leonard winning widely)

As good as Mayweather's defense is I don't think any fighter can go into a shell for a whole fight, or even 1/2 a fight, and not get hit with something of significance against Hearns. He simply had too much power. That's assuming a ref would even let a fight like that take place. No, Mayweather would have to throw something, and sooner or later, something's coming back at him that catches him. And that assumes his only objective is to go the distance, rather than win the fight.
