Based on what? He's already like 27 himself and has shown far too many limitations for me to agree with that. Impossible to predict the short term future, let alone the long term. I expect Golovkin to stay at MW for a couple more years either way.

 

Go watch his fight where Marco Antonio Rubio tooled him for seven rounds and then knocked him out. Then watch the fight right after that where Joachim Alcine decisioned him. Middleweight is weak, but it's not that weak. Peter Quillin, Daniel Geale, Martin Murray, Matt Korobov, and Ryota Murata would all beat him.

Lemieux should be able to beat Rubio in a rematch. Should. It would be catastrophic for his career if he couldn't, but a rematch would be nice.

Alcine and Rubio fight nothing alike really. And if you are going to "rule" any division, you have to put in better performances and show less glaring weaknesses then Lemeiux did in those fights, in my opinion.

 

If I remember correctly, Rubio had lost every single round before the final round and most of them were landslides (which is why he was so gassed; punched himself out).

Lemieux is so true. So true to himself. He's batting .500 against C+ level fighters, the highest caliber he has faced (Rubio, Alcine, F. Guerrero, Rosado).
