Naz was pure dog ****. Im amazed at the support for him. The guy spent his career fighting smaller, older guys coming up, has beens, nobodys, and also rans. Remember, the ONLY reason he fought Barrera was because Marco was believed to be on the downside when he fought Morales and after that incredible war nobody thought he would have anything left. He was also considered to be the weakest link at that time of the great FWs that would emerge after Hamed got his clock cleaned. To say Morales and Marquez turned down offers to fight him as if they were scared is disingenuos. Naz offered them short money in those fights and they refused. Its the oldest bargaining tactic in boxing, offer a dangerous opponent a pittance to fight you and then when he correctly declines pretend that hes scared of you. Roy Jones made a career out of this.

As the years go by there is inevitably going to be a dilution in quality if the same quantity is inducted on an annual basis...therefore this dilution will increase. There are only so many great fighters, once these are all inducted, the "very good" are inducted, and so on and so on.

  4. While I enjoyed watching Mancini,Bowe and Hamed...

…each has pretty thin justification for true greatness, worthy of a genuine Hall of Fame.

Bowe’s getting in because, I guess, he beat Holyfield twice. Didn’t show up in shape a whole lot and never faced Lennox Lewis.

Hamed lost to the only elite fighter he faced, and I agree with the other posters, it wasn’t all that competitive of a fight. Then he disappeared.

Same with Boom Boom (against Arguello) but I respect him as an ****yst.

To me, the only inductee with the goods is John F.X. Condon, MSG’s publicist during the arena’s glory days, including Ali-Frazier I, the greatest fight in the sport’s history. And, yes, maybe Jim Lampley, if only for longevity and devotion to the game.

The whole Hamed, Marquez, barrera, Morales, Norwood, Espinosa and then younger emerging Pacquiao was an overhyped era in terms of the individual ability of each of the fighters.entertaining and competitive, but Morales and Barrera were never the ATG beasts they were made out to be.Neither were Marquez and Pac at the weight, the latter who was more about freakish ability to be really good\excellent over a wide variety of weightclasses rather than a monster all-timer at any single one.

Shrink down and put an 85-90 MCallum, kalambay and on-form young middleweight Toney into that crop and they would have piled up the wins in short order.

How in tarnation can a Hamed, Mancini, get in the HOF a few years after they retired, whilst a truly great middleweight Ken Overlin had to wait SEVENTY years after he retired ? I guess today's adage holds true for the powers that be...THE LATEST IS THE GREATEST...Hogwash...

I guess that Bowe should get in based on people like Braddock being in.

I think this card shows a lack of imagination however.

They could easily have found a few worthy candidates in the pioneer category, who would have spiced things up.

When Don King was inducted, the Hall of Fame has rendered meaningless to me.

This sums it up well. Barrera got the fight because Hamed saw him get stopped by Junior Jones and thought he'd walk in, hit him, watch the ref count to 10 and walk out.
Admittedly, there were rumours about the British press high-fiving and shaking hands gratefully afterwards simply because Hamed was such an obnoxious, vile little man, but Hamed's career wouldn't be HOF worthy if he had the personality of Frank Bruno. He was a hype job with a punch.

Very proud of seeing my fellow East New Yorker Ridd.ic.k Bowe in the HOF. Makes us graduates of Jefferson High School quite proud to see him there.

    Way to go, Champ!

Agreed, but Overlin was probably overdue for induction. The year wasn't a total loss.

Simple. Chico was not as good as Gatti, Hamed, and Mancini.

I agree. This is a very weak class The bar has been lowered again. Years ago someone coined the phrase hall of famous.
