What are some of your favorite boxers that you think has a style that you could just watch all day? I normally prefer ones that have a clean style that is devoid of sloppy technique. I'll start: All-Time: Ricardo Lopez Alexis Arguello Alberto Davila Harold Johnson Mike McCallum Orlando Canizales Sumbu Kalambay Pernell Whitaker Miguel Canto Jose Napoles Yuri Arbachakov Donald Curry
I don't know much about Davila and Johnson but obviously you are a man of taste. I would add prime Toney and Whitaker, prime Michael Nunn, Larry Holmes, Christian Mijares, Johnny Tapia, Stevie Johnston, Oscar De La Hoya, Terry Norris ...
I tend to prefer more athletic fighters with unorthdox styles of fighting RJJ Naz Those kinds of guys. Brings a bit more entertainment
Active fighters not yet mentioned: Cristian Mijares Carlos Buitrago (though he is basically a clone/protégé of Choc - and both of them disciples of El Flaco Explosivo) Miguel Angel Garcia Grigory Drozd Kell Brook Jose Benavidez Jr. Erislandy Lara Disparate styles but with technique and efficiency as common thread.
Aesthetically speaking, if in terms of how much I admire their boxing ability in a way that appeals to me rather than pure excitement, it's these guys: Currently: Kovalev, Mikey Garcia, Lomachenko, Rigondeaux, PBF, GGG. -All very fluid, versatile, skillful boxers. All time: Frazier, Robinson, Pep, Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Whitaker, Duran, Tyson, Arguello, Benitez, Joe Louis. Sorry if I named too many.
I prefer watching boxers that come to fight, rather than hand the initiative to their opponent and hope to counter. I can see the appeal of a slick fighter like Rigo or Lara but generally I like a bit more action and violence when I'm re-watching fights on youtube. Povetkin, GGG, Kovalev, Pac, Mike Perez, Froch, Beterbiev and Lomachenko are current favourites.
