For what it's worth Rodriguez was the SLIGHT betting favourite against Takayama, I believe he was a big under-dog against Sabillo however

I suspect it was down to it being in Mexico. Bookies in the UK had Takayama 6/4 or evens with Rodriguez around 4/5. Sabillo was something like 1/12. I suspect the Sabillo odds showed that no one had any idea who Rodriguez was at the time and that the win changed folks view of him.

I know McGrain favoured Takayama over Rodriguez but most seemed to think it was close or that Rodriguez had the slight edge courtesy of home advantage.

The lineal title at 105 has been vacant ever since Calderon left.

And Rodriguez was the favorite over Takayama.

Vazquez vs Bey for me, Vazquez was the long time number 1 at lightweight for me, certainly not Antonio Demarco, Adrien Broner or Terrence Crawford so his defeat to someone as mediocre as Bey was a shock

    Yep.

Broner fanboys thought he was nearly a God and far superior to Maidana.

Broner haters claimed that Maidana was a bum in an attempt to discredit the win beforehand or more likely but possibly worse because they truly couldn't see the capabilities of one or both of them and how their styles would mesh.

Not me. I clearly stated that Maidana was the better of the two, and picked Marcos with confidence going by Broner's earlier struggles and controversial victories. I saw Broner as massively overrated and even expected a stoppage win.
But I have to agree you're right about a lot of posters here.

Well done. There weren't many of us.

Of all the biggest "upsets" and all the biggest "hypejobs" of the last several years that fight stands out as one that somehow everyone didn't see coming. And you've had people claiming they were picking Maidana come out of the woods more and more but if you were around before the fight actually happened, you know that 90% picked Broner and most insinuated that Maidana was nearly hopeless.
