BE bet all his v cash on Jimmy Young, taking the bold 'will not bore me to tears' prop bet, against Ali. :-(

He sure manhandled Fletcher, I was a bit surprised about that. Just so much stronger, FF was f**ked, he could do nothing.
Was making Hagler work very hard until he got his eye closed, but I didn't think he was going to win, Hagler was starting to time him, that thumb came as part of a pretty fierce set of shots, but it was a shame, because he was doing well and deserved better. The fact that he fought on after that for several rounds makes him pretty courageous in my book, no quitter.
Too wide open, Hearns really clocked him, but then he got up, and went after Tommy, stunning him a few times too, that was a wild one, but he just wasn't refined enough to beat the Hitman. Tommy seemed to have learned how to hold on a bit, which he didn't do against Marvin.
That being said, I would agree with the previous poster who said he would pick him over all the others, I would have too, at middleweight, at that time. No easy night for anyone, and you would have to be pretty special to beat him.
He would have been a tough fight in any era, but his wide open style could have made it hard for him to beat the very best.

He was giving Hagler all he could handle until the 3rd round. I am a massive Hagler fan, but Roldan was definitely troubling Marv. Maybe Hagler would have worked Roldan out eventually, but the eye injury changed the fight.

Anyone remember Roldan when he first appeared on the scene on that ESPN bout against Teddy Mann? They were touting Roldan going into that one and he sure didn't look all that good against Teddy.

very heavy handed and almost impossible to hit that night. the way he blended offense with defense in such a way that you could not get past his defense but would run into punches

so Hagler had to take those shots but no one other than Hagler could've taken those shots which is why only Hagler wouldve beaten him that night as Roldan was at his absolute peak and trained by the best also

was actually winning both rounds until the third when Marvin got going and rammed a well placed jab-hook which instantly shut closed the eye but even so, gave Marvin the fight of his life that night

ultimately tho, Marvin was just too much and his will won out over Roldan's

He lost it intentionally so he could show himself and others he can become a vpower again resuming from 75.

No one could take Roldan's punches except Hagler and Hearns.

The latter of that pair isn't doing Roldan any favours in that department.

A prime Iran Barkley v. Roldan would have been a fun fight.

Yep you're correct although Roldan did have Hearns in trouble but couldn't put him away.

What I remember from it is that Hearns disposed of him quite easily, and they both were of the same age.

No not at all, Roldan had Hearns wobbly and hurt but was too wild and crude.
