Definitely feel bad for Herrera. The dude was robbed (and that's not a term I throw around freely) twice this year in 2 major fights. He made Benavidez look very ordinary, and I remember people saying that Jr could beat Pacquiao based on how he fared in sparring against him as a 17 year old.

:yep This guy pretty much should have taken both of their 0's. Shoulda been candidate for fighter of the year, but he'll eventually get a break. Hopefully.

This sport is called BOXING, not SLAPPING.

Herrera wasn't robbed, it's just that you and every one else who scored for Herrera don't understand how to score a fight.

I had it 116-112 to Benavidez at the end but seeing everyone else on the RBR had Herrera winning, i made my live RBR closer at 115-113 to Benavidez.

Having re-watched the fight again i'm sticking to my original scorecard of 116-112 Benadvidez and edited my RBR the way i scored it initially.

People who scored that fight to Herrera fell for the illusion of him winning rounds based on his high volume whereas in reality the vast majority of his punches were wide slapping punches that had zero power or accuracy to them.

If guys are given decisions based on them wailing away with nothing slapping punches then we may as well just stop calling this BOXING and call it SLAPPING instead.

Well done to the two judges who actually gave the decision to the right man who was actually BOXING and throwing the more telling, accurate and legitimate punches.

  5. Do you think Herrera beat Garcia?

I didn't really see that fight, only caught a few rds here and there and honestly from what i saw Herrera was throwing the same high volume slapping punches in those rds i did see of the Garcia fight and the Provodnikov one too.

Accurate power punching should be always be scored much higher then High Volume Slapping.

    According to CompuBox:

Herrera landed 295 of 870 punches, while Benavidez connected with 250 of 647.

That alone tells me the right man won knowing that Benavidez loads up on his punches much more then Herrera's slapping ones.

Exactly, everyone would just forego power and start slapping because why tire yourself with power when you could throw a slap and get more of them in and quicker? If you're going to back off on the power to throw quicker at higher volume you better be clearly dominant because what he lands on you is likely worth alot more.

Look at Floyd, he doesn't throw with high power or volume so he knows he his defense has to be excellent in order to get the rounds. He seldom leaves question as to what rounds he won, and he pretty much does that using only accuracy and defense, he understands that he to be dominant when what you throw is typically not as powerful as what your opponent throws. As matter of fact, if Herrera's name was Floyd last night, there would be cheers everywhere.

That literally is the dumbest thing I have ever read on this website....aside from anything MVC! posts.

So because Benavidez threw and landed less, he won?

I saw him throwing hard straight rights to the body, and strong rocking hooks to the body as well. Occasionally a hard straight right to the face, and plenty of stiff jabs.

I saw him keeping benavidez on the ropes and pounding his ribs while taking a little flac here and there.

Benavidez looked like he didn't punch that much many rounds, I think it was because he didn't know how to beat the guy and his body was hurting.

If anything, I think the judges undervalued body punches.

Not a robbery last night. Herrera and Carlos Molina should form a support group.

Herrera won anyone who saw otherwise is blind ...

  13. This was as bad of a robbery as Bey vs Vasquez.

If these guys don't hit that hard, why don't you just walk them down then. I swear, casual fans need to start boxing to understand the mechanics, instead of "observing".

Garcia won 7-5 (people need to relax with the Swift hate)

Had last night's fight a draw.

Herrera needs to cause damage if he doesn't clearly outbox his opponent.
