I hate reading through these threads. People don't understand what is meant by tysons 'prime'

Cus was still alive, mike wasn't in and out of prison or doing drugs and skipping out on training

not prime as in 'ideal boxing years for most boxers'. Prime as in Mike when he was training seriously.

    I feel Mike would win

All an excuse. Prime Tyson fought in the weakest HW era ever. KTFO by a bum at age 22

Cus was dead before Tyson won his first belt.

You can pick any fighter in history and say his prime was when he was winning fights.

if you actually studied a fighters career, then his prime wouldn't need to be explained to you.

Exactly, and Tyson gets a free pass because when people point out his "prime" he was fighting the poor quality opponents.

The best fighter he fought in his first championship incarnation was Douglas, and he lost.

Years later all the past his prime excuses came out.

I actually think Tony Tucker was the best fighter Tyson fought in his prime. Buster Douglas certainly did fight better on the night though

Douglas outclassed Tucker in their fight, but he did what he was prone to doing and gassed because he hadn't applied himself in training.
I've always believed Douglas was one of the most talented heavies of the eighties, if only he had the dedication.

What an interesting clash of styles. The 1980's version of Tyson had great head movement and knew how to get to his opposition on the inside regardless of their height advantage.

I'd favor Tyson because of his granite chin. He'd obviously have to sell out in order to get on the inside, but I think his chin would allow him the opportunity to get on the inside and see if he could take out Wladimir.

It would be a tough fight for both fighters, but I'd favor an 80's version of Tyson by the slightest of margins due to his punching power and excellent beard. I think he'd also hold in own when both men would be stuck in clinches, which would probably occur for at least half of the fight.

Wow, almost everyone who favors Tyson in this fantasy matchup says that he'd walk across the ring and blow out Wladimir in seconds. I favor Wlad by UD, but kudos to you for being rational:happy
