I agree that Vitali had the makings of a fighter who would always give Lewis a good match. But regardless of what some have said, the Lewis who actually fought Klitschko was a far cry from the one who easily beat Golata after Andrew had battered Bowe from pillar to post.

Eh.. I gave up sticking to the topic of threads a long time ago. Kind of a vein effort if you ask me. Let's just talk about boxing regardless of how the discussion starts.

I know what the thread is about, now go mention that to the guy who first brought up Lewis and Vitali because it certainly wasn't me.

Yeah and we saw Lewis go life and death with Ray Mercer too, prime for prime I think it's a toss up and I wouldn't be willing to put down my money on a victor.

That's fair enough. But considering that Lewis still found a way to win ( albeit inconclusive ) while being nearly 38 years old, inactive for a year and fighting at a career high weight, I think he deserves an edge.

The next time someone starts a thread on Muhammad Ali, I'm going to find a way to sneak Livingstone Bramble in there. :D

    -As you should have.

-Wrong. The bet has not been forgotten and quite a few posters have continued to give Dino hell for not honoring our bet.

-**** in one hand and wish in the other.

I think that a good topic ( possibly for a another thread ) is how Lewis seemed to rise for the occasion against his more formidable foes while turning up flat against his lesser ones. Donoven Ruddock, Andrew Golata, Michael Grant, Vitali Klitscko, Shanon Briggs, and David Tua were all highly ranked men with big punches and in some cases highly regarded. He managed to beat all of them and a few in emphatic fashion. on the other hand, Oliver McCall, Hasim Rahman and aged versions of Bruno and Mercer weren't billed as better opponents and he either struggled or lost. I think Lennox was one of those guys who had the tendency to slack against fighters whom he thought were going to be an easy night's work.
