He's the best choice for replacement. He deserves it more than Burns too who has looked **** since the Gonzalez fight. If Gonzalez had some heart and the refs were fair in the Beltran fight then he'd have a string of 4 straight defeats.

Horrible fight for Mitchell, Mickey Bey and his weak chin taking the IBF would have been an absolute blessing for Mitchell if he had bothered to make weight for his eliminator

But burns has the proven track record all you ****ney dudes forget Kevin has been stopped in rounds 3&4 in his two world title fights so he hardly deserves anything whereas Burns won 8 lost 1 drew1
Plus smashed Kevin in the process and would do so again
Simple fact is Ricky ain't English or would have been given his chance if anything the guy Ricky's ment to fight is a harder fight and he will go to the states for it

Billy makes some good points. Kevin got smashed by Kats and Burns.... I think Burns has had it at world level but what an amazing record he has given that a lot of people, including myself, didn't think he'd cut it at world level!

Come on, you can't honestly say that Burns has looked impressive lately. He's looked utter ****. In what way does he deserve a title shot?

Burns may have a proven track record and a good resume of wns. So do plenty of guys who keep fighting past their best, doesn't mean they deserve a title shot just on past accomplishments. If Mitchell and Burns fought again in a couple of months time, my money would be on Mitchell.

I'm not saying he's looked good, what I'm saying is he's a former 2 weight proven world title fighter who should fight for a title before anyone in the UK at the weight based on what he's achieve, mate if he were English he'd get that shot before now easy

Would you advise him to take this fight or the one against the opponent in Las Vegas?

Personally I wouldn't want him to fight for another World Title until he had some momentum behind him!! Going in against a world champion when he doesn't seem confident in his own ability could destroy him altogether!

Who's to say the American fights not against a world champion but not for a title? What would you do then, I know what I'd tell him

They the world champion would do it for him as I think in all our hearts we all know he would get beaten easy of any world champ in the division at this moment in time

how would he get beat easily moog? If you were under the pressure that lad was over the last few years you wouldn't perform to ya best, I hope he gets a world title fight and smashes the guy and sticks two fingers up
At least he's still active behaving himself and always a top pro which can't be said for all can it moog?

No disputing he is professional, though not totally or he would have listened to his trainer more and done as asked at all times. I would love Ricky to get back to his best but even that would properly would fall just short of other champions in the division and a few levels of Crawford (no shame in that). Pressures my ****, pressures people working 50-60 hours a week to make ends meet, not a **** like ****** trying to sue you, you just transfer all your assets and do a ******. I hope he never sees a penny of Rickys money

Surprised no one has said Harrison should step in and how he would beat Abril easily because he was a world champion and sober 10 years ago.

I'm sorry but Burn's does not deserve a title shot, he has won 1 of his last 4 and has looked rather average for a fair amount of time.

Even if Hearn has another LW lined up for Abril I think it would be rather harsh to announce anything right now while Crolla is still in hospital.

I wouldn't be surprised though if Mitchell gets the fight but it is depending on his WBA ranking and if Estrada will step aside or they can come to some sort of agreement with him and his team.
